22 BR Trying NOT to reinvent the wheel.

Here's a short article concerning the use of "burn rate" for choosing a powder. I'd be interested to see what Y'all think of it. It was kind of an eye opener for me. I've looked at burn rate a little too simplistically I think. jd

The Norma chart where they took a 308 and used the same amount of powder for about every powder available is another way to look at burn rate/relative quickness. Of course it only applies to 308 but interesting none the less.

Well, I just picked up one pound each of Benchmark and H322 to try along with my Varget and RL15. I also picked up some 53 vmax and 55 NBT's. I may also try some flat based Bergers, also.

Thanks a bunch!!

Tod

I've been told Benchmark powder is much too fast to shoot 88 grain bullets in the BR case:rolleyes:, according to the burn rate charts:D
if your talking about the 25br, benchmark is my powder of choice with the bib 88 gr bullets.

my powder of choice for the 22br with 55 gr bullets is benchmark. the h322 works too, but in my barrel I got more velocity with the benchmark. about 3700 fps with 55 gr sierra gamekings, I took quite a few deer with that combination.Neck shots)
