22 BR barrel length

Hi All,
My buddy and i want to put together quick handling, walk about 22BR varmint rifles.
We would be glad to hear peoples ideas on what the oiptimum barrel length for this cartridge would be. Thanks.

I just finished putting a 18 inch 22 BR Pac-Nor barrel on a xp-100 in a rear grip that shoots 3 shot one holers at a 100 yards with 40 grain BT's and even better with a custom made 40, and AA-2015..
Now that hay is down, I'll have some working photo's in the next week or so...
It shoots as good as my 26 inch rifle barrel will......

18 inchess, hmmmm.... thats a bit of a revalation guys thanks for the info.
What sort of velocities are you getting with the 18" barrels and bullets in the 50-55grn range?
