I've done 220 to 6 Grendel and the best I could do, the brass is .016-.020 shorter than my trim to length. I suspect you might reduce that to MAYBE .014-.018 short, so not much gain there. It shot fine but gotta stay ahead of the carbon ring is all. It'll work. If you can find Lapua 6.5 Grendel brass, the 22 ARC is exactly a Grendel necked down to 22. The 6 ARC is a bit shorter to the shoulder than the 22 ARC. Again, it's a 22 Grendel.I thinking of bolt gun build with a 24" heavy barrel with a 1:8 twist. My question is, I have a couple hundred pieces of virgin 220 Russian Lapua gold box brass. Will it be a good chose for fire forming the 22 ARC?
I have plenty of virgin Lapua brass I've been using in my 6 Major and with those 80gr Barts I'm getting <.25 MOA at 100 yardsI've done 220 to 6 Grendel and the best I could do, the brass is .016-.020 shorter than my trim to length. It's just short is all. What is your 6 Major trim length vs actual case length? Reamer print for both would be nice too but gotta know actual case numbers.I have plenty of virgin Lapua brass I've been using in my 6 Major and with those 80gr Barts I'm getting <.25 MOA at 100 yards
Was that with Grendel brass necked to 6mm or 220 brass blown outI think I trimmed my cases at 1.510" once and have not trimmed them since. I have approximately 15 firings on 50 cases.
