22 ARC barrels

Have a 26" +2" gas Craddock Precision Bartlien bbl and bolt assembly ordered. Going On a Aero enhanced upper with CMC 2.5 lb. Looking at rifle length stocks....pictures like that can make time slow miserably, waiting on parts! Nice rig....rsbhunter

I have a special 224 grendel barrel coming this week.

1 of 10 barrels that are in use.
21" 1:8 twist rifle length gas 224 grendel mason reamer only .004 shorter than 22 arc chamber. Will shoot 22 arc loaded ammo fine.

Complete Uintah Precision semi auto upper
22 ARC , with an 18″ barrel, 1:7.5 twist and Rifle +1 gas system

If i can get a 22" 1-7 plus 2 gas system barrel i will.

I am using a 20" Saturn Barrel, with Rifle Gas, and a Seekins Adjustable Gas Fixture. Only 20 rounds fired so far. Weather here has not cooperated much. Between Blue Cold, Rain and Muddy, and needing to get my Firewood Supply built back up, I have not had a lot of Range Time.
My Build is actually a rebuild. I just rebarreled my 204 Ruger AR.
Rock River Matched Upper & Lower Set ( close to 20 years old)
Jewel Trigger
Handguard Geissele Automatics MK IV x 13.5 (New)
Stock MagPul MOE Rifle (New)
Using a Harris Bench Rest, Notch Leg, Swivel Bipod with the Badger Ordnance LPHM Conversion to clamp on a 1913 Rail. The Forward Three Inches of the MK IV x 13.5 Handguard is 1913 Rail. (New)
Scope Mount: Leupold MK AR 30mm Cantilever (New)
Scope: SWFA 20X Fixed Power Super Sniper

So far it is shooting very well.

So far I have managed to get Five box's of Hornady Ammunition. Three are 75 ELD-M, and the last Two are the 88 ELD-M loads. That has me up to 100 pieces of brass. I can probably live with that until Brass hits the market. I will probably pick up some 62 ELD-VT Loads when I find some.

For Bullets I have at the moment:
62 ELD-VT
75 ELD-M
80 A-Max
80 Berger VLD
90 Sierra MK
Plus my 5.56 Bullets from 50 - 77SMK

Powders that should work:
CFE 223
AA2520
WW748
H335
RL15

I believe the Hornady Dies are the only ones available at this time.
I also picked up a Cartridge Gauge from Midway in the last week.

I am looking forward to reloading for the 22 ARC.

What make this one better than a 224 Valkyrie in the AR ?
Bill - I think if you have the Valkyrie then you're okay. The Valkyrie was marketed as the "1,000 yard" cartridge for AR15. The poor man's long range cartridge. Yes, it can do it but only if you push it Hard. The resulting case life is extremely short with most reporting 3 firings and then loose primer pockets.

The 22 Grendel/ARC case has more capacity (somewhere between .145-.150" cubic inches) as compared to the Valkyrie (.139 cubic inches). Also, the 22 Grendel/ARC case length (1.525") allows it to utilize higher BC bullets compared to the Valkyrie at 1.60". The case length only is significant if loading in AR15 with 2.26" mag length restriction. In a bolt rifle you can load long so COAL is less of a restriction/concern.

If you are focused on more reasonable distances or just ordinary use (hunting, plinking, and mid-range) then there isn't going to be much difference from the shooting perspective. I believe the most important distinction that could impact the average shooter is availability of ammo and components with the Grendel/ARC positioned to have greater industry support in the long term. This is my subjective thoughts and others may disagree.

Krieger 1-6.5” 24” +2” gas
Billet upper receiver
Comp extension WOA
Rubber city BCG n bolt
Midwest 18” HG
Great PRS setup or Bench rig
Nice, just what I've been thinking about for a fast follow-up coyote rig to replace my 22-250 bolt. Although I'd want left eject and ambi everything else plus any tuning needed for use with a can. Um well maybe not 24" for that use. More like 18-20 is what I was thinking. Guess it depends on where the happy place is.

Oso: that is along my thought. I do have a Valkyrie and it does just fine, but then I don't usually shoot beyond 500-600 yrd and not in competition. But I was wondering, as I know some that do shoot 1000 yrd with theirs.
My case life is very good, but then again I don't run max all the time either.

Easy fix on making it ambidexterous. As far as adjusting/offsetting for suppressor, this can be accomplished by using an adjustable gas block (Superlative Arms or SLR Rifleworks). If your barrel is 18" or longer with the appropriate length gas tube then the effectiveness of an adjustable gas block diminishes.

Replace the factory Bolt Catch with a Phase 5 Tactical Extended Ambi Bolt Catch/Release
Phase 5 Tactical Ambi Bolt Release

Replace the factory safety selector switch with an Ambi Safety Selector
Battle Arms Ambi Safety Selector

Yeah there's lots of ambi stuff out there, left eject is limited but available. I've never been interested in AR but the specs of the 22ARC might just get me to do one. Time will tell. Our youngest is into them and only recently got his first bolt gun, so we have quite a mix between us but he's part of the masses (right handed), whereas I'm one of the special order models.
