.22 action that fits a rem700 chassis

I am considering building a mini version of my FTR rifle but I don't know what action to go with. My full size rig is in a Eliseo chassis so I would love to drop in 22lr action to go into another chassis. Eliseo make chassis for Remington 700 and Barnard. I want a good quality action as I might try rim fire FTR if I can find some local shoots.

I was thinking Remington 40x trainer, hall, turbo or?????

Please forgive my ignorance I have never been into rim fire much.
Thanks

I would talk to Gary Eliseo directly. He knows what actions fit his chassis. I am partial to Stiller actions but my one benchrest .22 LR was built on a Hall. It shot very well with the right lot of Eley Tenex. You also might talk to Dan Killough at Killough Shooting Sports. He knows a lot about precision .22 LR rifles. Finally, there is an article in the forum about a .22 LR FTR trainer. You should probably read that too.

I just heard back from Gary, he now makes chassis for hall and anshutz 54. Also the rem 40x 22lr will fit the standard 700 chassis.

A used 40X should work, a friend uses one in an Eiliso for smallbore, or check with Team10X.

A 40X rimfire is a standard R700 footprint. You should be able to drop it into any stock that will fit a normal 700.

Mine is an old 40X (05## ser#) dropped into a PR&T stock just like my F-TR rifles, it also takes the same triggers (thus the Jewel on mine)

I put together a F-T/R trainer to match my Eliseo B1. This is one of Gary's H1 chassis:

Ryan,
You are the reason I want one so bad! I read your old thread now I can't stop thinking about on. I just wish I could find a used hall barreled action like you did.

I found a 40x based on the 722 but I would have to modify the chassis to make it fit and I hate to do that to such a nice piece of machining. The search continues.....

You might consider putting up a WTB ad for either a Hall rifle (which you could sell the stock) or an Anchutz 1913 or 1907 in the classifieds here. I have found several things through WTB ads in the past.

I am flattered that my rifle caused your search. I never thought I would spend that much on a 22 in my life, but I'm glad I did. It is a lot of fun to shoot. Good luck in you search.

I am having excellent luck with my 40X in an AI-X chassis.

The target is 60 shots inside 1cm at 50 meters.

I have a Tubb 2 stage trigger on another rifle. As soon as I am comfortable making the change, I will order two more so all my bolt guns (mostly AI and R-700) triggers feel the same.
