.22-6mm with Barnes TSX

Have some preliminary loads with the Barnes 70 gr TSX for deer. Max load with NMRP gives 3778fps at 20'. Has case head expansion of 0.001" with easy extraction. Intended as a hunting load only. Accuracy is 1/2 minute but I have only tested at 200yds. Max. about 75-100fps slower with H 4831SC. Testing has been limited due to my low supply of MRP and inability to locate a source.
Plan to use this load on deer with careful shot selection.

What is your case length on your 22-6mm ?

My son gave me a wildcat case he found and I think it might be a 22-6mm with a 35*-40* shoulder.

I am using the standard 6mm Rem case which is 2.233" with a 26 degree shoulder. Sounds like you have one of the improved versions, maybe a Clark.

Thanks for the reply. I just measured the case length, its roughly 2.200 . Its hard to measure the case with the bullet in place.

I'll look up the Clark and see what the case mwasurements are.

The Clark version has a 30 degree shoulder, less body taper, same 2.23" length. It holds approximately 5 gr. more powder. Velocity is maybe 50fp more but cases have to be fireformed. Mine are very easy to make. Just run a 6mm case in the resizing die, trim, uniform neck, and load. I am using Win caes and they are suprisingly uniform with very little work required. The Clark version stretches a little less than mine and requires less frequent trimming.

Whats the difference between the 224 Clark and the 224 TTH (Texas Trophy Hunter) . IF I'm not mistaken they're both based on the 244/6mm REM case ?

I've always thought a 22-6mm with the Nosler 60 grain PArtition would make a decent deer rifle if the person used a certain amount of restraint .
Did load some of the Nosler 60 PT's in a Marlin 336SC 219 Zipper I had for awhile . Only problem was it trurned the rifle into a two shooter with the spire point bullets .

I have some of the Barnes 53 TSX I'm contemplating trying in my old 722 222 for popping a deer inside the 100 yard zone .

The clark was originally put up on a 257 Roberts case, with the shoulder and body angle changed, the 224 TTH is just a plain old 6mm case necked down to .224, nothing else changed...
H-4831 SC and RL-25 work very well with the heavy bullets....

Nothing has given the accuracy and velocity of the Norma MRP. One slight problem, no one seems to have MRP in stock.
