22-250AI fast twist

Have a new 22-250AI w/ broughton barrel, actual twist is 7 3/8

What can I expect with these bullets...

70 Barnes Triple shock

75 A-Maxes

80 Berger VLD

Velocities, accuracy and the potential blow ups from too much RPM's

Give me your real world data please, thanks!!

You forgot to mention barrel length, but assuming it should be at least 26" long, you should easily reach an average of 3300fps with those bullets provided they are moly plated and you use the right powder. The AI is no CHeetah and velocities shouldn't be excessive with this twist and this category of bullet weight.

I dont know about easily reaching 3300fps with 75 and 80gr bullets, it might get there but accuracy wise the lower loads would more than likely group better. Just my experience with the 22-250 case. you should be fine with any of those bullets listed. You wont blow up any of those bullets but i probably would stick to 60gr and larger bullets with that twist.

If you have a shorter barrel than 26' I would expect alot of noise and flames out the end.

I am currently using a 14tw, 28inch with my 22-250AI. Second barrel on this action.

The twist rate you have will surely stabilize the 75 and 80 gr bullets. As you probably know the VLD is very sensation to where its seated.

You won't be over 3400fps on any of those rounds, so you do not have to worry about the bullets coming apart.

Realistically, you can expect 3300-3350 with the 75gr AMax, and right around or just shy of 3300 with the 80gr VLD. However, these are max loads and you will probably have to back them down a bit get the accuracy you are looking for.

Best speed and accuracy loads are going to be with CCI BR2 primers, Varget,if you have some), H380 or H4895.
