22.250 with a 1 in 9 twist barrel and bullet range

Wondering if anyone has had any experience shooting the hornady 60 grain V-MAX bullets out of a 22/250. Is the 1 in 9 twist too fast for this bullet?

Thanks,

Ryan

Not too sure about .22-250 but 1-in-9 would be fine on .223 with a 60 grain. My Ar15 is 1-in-8 and shoots 62 grain milsurp perfectly :).

REastman,

I think you will be fine running the 60 grain AMax in a 1-9 twist. My experience with the 22-250AI basically ends up like this:

10-14tw barrels like 53 grain and lower weight bullets
9-10tw barrels like 53-70 grain bullets
8tw barrels like 70 grain and heavier bullets.

I think you are right on the money. I would say a 9tw would be to fast for anything under the 53 grain category and too slow for the 73, 80 and 90 grain bullets.

Let us know how it turns out.

Ben
