22 - 250 rem .....

Thanks again for the replys...I forgot how many me luke & john shot that week in april...Was my only varmint safari all year...I'm glad we have this place to swap stories & info...mike in ct ps...Check out my next project for john in pa..he's trading up to a 338 from the 6.5 X 284...anyone care to raz him or me about this next savage project feel free..

My favorite load out of my 700 is 34.9gn of 3031 with Sierra 55gn BTSP and have killed 88 coyotes from 150 to 475 with great accuracy. Good luck with your project.

I'm shooting 38 gr. of H-380 under a 53 Grain Watson for a MV of 3400 fps. I can jack it up, but accuracy begins to suffer. This is in a Bull Barrel Ruger 77 with a 1 in 14 twist. I used to shoot 55 gr. Bergers but they weren't nearly as accurate as the 53s, which never made any sense to me. How could 2 grains make a difference? Guess it could be bullet design. The gun shoots in the 8s and is responsibile for the demise of many, many groundhogs.

You guys make me feel better. I just had a 22-250AI built, and I chose a 12 twist. Some people on another site said I should have gone with a faster twist. I am planning on shooting 50-55's. Figured if I needed more I could go with my 243.

Good post.

4000fps,

The 12 twist should serve you well with the 50-55's. In fact, with the AI speeds the 65g Sierra should shoot well too.

I'm getting ready to test a new load with the 65g'er and IMR 4831 in my 8 twist 22-250 AI. If the load shoots well, it will be my go to coyote load for this fall/winter.

I'm new to your forum. But not to reloading. However, I do have a question. I have an Etronx that I had re-chambered to 22-250AI, it has a 1:14" twist rate. Can I stabilize the Hornaday 60gr - V-Max.. I can push it to 3700fps without any problem. Your thoughts.

Thanks

I'll load 10 of them as hot as I dare and give it a try. Doesn't sound to promising though. While I'm on the subject of Etronx... Gunamonth, do you know anyone who has done away with the electronics and replaced the bolt and trigger on the rifle.

This is a group I shot with a CZ 550 Kevlar stock in 22-250. Used 34.5 grains of IMR 4064 powder CCI BR primer 52 grain Serria Match King bullet. This load shoots 3550fps.

Load in my 700 22/250 sporter is Rem brass, WLR, 39.0g of IMR 4350 with 55g Nos BT, 55g Sierra BTHP, 55g Sierra Sp. This load shoots three shot groups in the high 3's and low 4's...not bad for a hot load shot out of a sporter, and will repeat the group size consistantly. 39.0g was too hot and blew the groups using Win brass.
