Went to the local gun show, priced lowered as I was asking too much.

It’s got what I think is a Douglas barrel, in 22-250, and has 1:14 twist, though barrel has no markings, bluing in great shape. The stock is an early Bishop, a company back in the 1950’s which made semi-custom stocks for military conversions. It’s made of walnut, with raised cheek comb, has a rear butt-plate says BISHOP on it.

Based on the marking, it appears to be made in the 1938-39 timeframe. It has all matching serial numbers and parts, appears all original. The condition of the action is excellent, very nicely machined. Has a wonderful smooth finish and very deep black bluing, reminds me of a Sako. It’s got a number of Waffenamt “280” inspection stamping, with eagles with “Stick Wings” design and 280 below. Waffenamt code (WaA) is the German inspection proof mark and can be found on firearms and equipment. Right side of the action has 3 of these, as does many of the individual parts. And, on the left side of the action is a 1939 Nazi style eagle, and to the right serial number 8675 over C. Left side of chamber stamped in the unique font with Mod. 98. stamp. The action parts seem to be all from the original rifle, and the action is in super nice condition. The bolt knob was already nicely modified to be user friendly with scopes. The safety has not been done yet. The bolt has some really nice jeweling to the finish. The trigger appears original, Wheeler digital gauge shows it breaks about 3 pounds 11 ounces.

Action = Large Ring 1.410" diameter front of action
Standard Length 8.75" long, 3rd locking lug on bolt
Screw Spacing 7.835"

Redfield 1" High Split JR/SR, Std Rear / Front Ext Rings; Redfield JR Base

Currently has a Burris E1 4.5-14x42 a nice ballistic plex reticle, OEM sunshade, Butler Creek caps, on Redfield base and rings. Scope is in excellent shape, glass is very clear and bright, no issues, comes with Burris sunshade.

The action is bedded, as is the full barrel. I looked at the bore with my Teslong borescope, and the rifling looks really good, very minimal small pit spots, and it shoots good.

I worked on developing a load, and have data to provide. I only tried a couple powders, and mainly used Nosler 40 gr Ballistic Tip and TAC. 33.5 gr yielded 3590 fps, groups of .47”, .38” and .98” in my three tests with this specific load 33.0 was good too.

Will include 53 pieces of brass shot 2x in this rifle.

That is a beautiful early post war custom. I have owned a few like that, fitted with DST's and chambered in the 22-250 and 220 Swift. They shoot. I like the FN's myself, but this one is really well done!
