22/250 loads

Can anyone give me some suggested loads for my 22/250, I have a pile of 55GR V-MAX projectiles, ADI 2208 powder (same as VARGET) also ADI benchmark 2 powder. Any help much appreciated.

i found those powder less effective than h414 use the Hodgden loads and work great for me.

Thanks, I should have mentioned that where i live, Australian ADI powders are all we have to choose from, My rifle is remington 700 action heavy profile swan barrel & slee stock barrel length is 25"

Every 22-250 I have worked up loads for with 55gr bullets gave me the best accuracy with 34gr varget [adi 2208] it is right around 3500 fps if I remember .

try 2206h as it give better velocity and should be equally accurate, it is h4895 here in US

According to QLoad, 34 grs of 2208 with a 55 V-max should give you an even 3500 fps and 50400 psi. Loading density is 92%. Start at 32 grs and work up carefully.

Every reply is just a guess until you tell us the twist rate. The 1-14 rarely shoots the LONG Flat base 55 V-max, but does better with shorter lead core 55's e.g. Nosler, Sierra, Speer. If you have a 1-12 more bullets are sucessfuly used up to 69's.

For the 1-14 50 is about the best weight
For the 1-12 60 is about the best weight

In my experience.

R-15 Sweden made, new formulations are temp insensitive
N-140 Swiss made?, new formulations are temp insensitive
Varget Australian made, new formulations are temp insensitive
IMR-8208 Australian made, new formulations are temp insensitive
H-4895 Australian made, new formulations are temp insensitive

all work well with the 22-250 and shoot in all temps. with little changes.

Try h380 it has work for me in my 1x12 twist with 55 gr vmax's

macca--Varget is excellent in my 22-250s- 34-36grs the norm, I dont have any proplem with 55gr V MAX in a 14 twist at all, in any of them.

my load for my rem 700 varmint model is 38.0gr of H380 with 50gr Vmaxs and coal at 2.500" Shoots really well in my rifle.

I never got bug hole accuracy with Varget in a 22/250

R#15, Win 760, IMR 4064, IMR and H 4895 were much better.

About 3/4" was my best with varget...forget that!

32.5grs. Varget or AA2520 with 50 gr V-Max in my Browning ABolt

35 gr imr 4320,cci br,win case,40 gr nosler @ coal 2.40 for 3450 fps has shot real well in several different guns,3450 fps in a 24" 1-14 Howa .

2206H (H4895) has been my goto powder in the 22-250. With the 55 grain bullets 33-35.3 grains. 35.3 was a working maximum in the Remington 700 VSSF and XP100R.

I've had good success with Varget and H380 using 55 grain Noslers and Federal 210 Match primers. Another very accurate bullet in my rifle is the Sierra 55 Boat Tail Hollow Point.

But believe or not, I've shot my best and most consistant groups with 38.0 grains of IMR 4350 and 55 grain Noslers. I was given this load by a fellow shooter and was totally skeptical until I tried it. The velocity is only in the 3400 to 3500 range but the accuracy is superb and consistant. Also I get very little case stretch with this load.
