22-250 "do-it-all" twist rate

I am trying to decide on a twist rate that will shoot from 40-75 grain bullets out of a 22-250. I am thinking that a 10-twist might get it done at my elevation (5000').

Thoughts?

I would go with 1:8" twist.

I would go with an 8 twist just to be safe. In case you come down from the mountain. LOL. My 8 shoots 40 to 80 gn. great.

I have a 8 twist 22x47 Lapua which is close to the 22-250 and I shoot the 80 gr. A-max. I have kills out to 510 yards on grounhogs and a deer kill at 110 yards. When groundhogs are shot they are DRT and the deer went straight down. I didn't do much load development with lighter bullets but the ones I tried showed promise. If I ever shoot out my 22-250 14 twist factory barrel I will replace it with a 8 twist barrel.

I have a 10 twist and the 62 gr Barnes that I wanted to shoot out of it hit the 100 yd target at about a 20 degree angle.

Huge fan of the 8 twist, there are times when a know I could shoot 90's with a 7 twist, but the versatility of the 8 twist is hard to beat, and tho9se 80 Bergers work pretty good.

What kind of speed do you get with the 80's?

Don't have it anymore but I got 3150 out of mine with 80gr SMKs. Worked well for long range prarie dogs for about 800 rounds and I never let it get too hot
