22 250 AL

Can I take a standard 22 250 and just fire it in a 22 250 AL chamber and and that it no other steps to fire form ?

IF the chamber was cut to the right specs, that is no problem, and will come out formed pretty close. Sometimes it takes more than one shot to fully form..

That's all there is to it. It will take a couple of firings to fully form the brass.

Thanks guys
No problem. Enjoy your .22-.250 AI. what's your barrel twist? With the right twist, this cartridge can raise some eyebrows with the heavier .224 bullets.

I'm shooting the 80.5 in one of my 8 twisted 22-250s now. They are shooting well for me, so far out to 500 yards.

If this was a 22-250 before the rechambering, was the barrel set back when the AI chamber was cut? I acquired a 223AI that the barrel wasn't set back on when it was cut and the headspace was excessive.

Thinking about it last night and might just put a new barrel on it may chamber a 22 250 AL or looking at the 22 CM as well.

22-250AI and 22 creed are basically the same thing.

Yes they are.I use lapua brass that’s one good thing about the 22 250 you got lapua brass . So now I have to neck down 6 CM lapua brass which I don’t mind but I can’t find that brass so guess I will just have to neck down the 6.5 brass .

One of my most accurate rifles is a savage built with an 8 twist in 22-250 AI. Even the fire forming loading is accurate. I just use 75 gr ELD with RL23 and it always shoots less than half an inch. Never found the need to try anything else. I've used PPU 55GR to fire form but prefer better quality brass.
