I just got my 22-250 AI back from the smith and was wanting to see some of the loads yall are using with the 75gr A-Max. It is an 8 twist Shilen threaded on a Ruger action. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Don't have to worry about posting the warning about using other people's loads. I know to start low and work up. Thanks.

Heres a wide range of loading info hope this helps ya out.

I'm using H4831sc and RL22 with the 75 & 80gr Amax in Norma brass with Fed 210GM primers at around 3300fps shoots in the .3's at 100 kills chucks out to 600 no problem

I've tried H-414, H-4350, and H 4831 SC, and the 4350 wins the velocity, group, and consistency award.

I shoot moly, so I won't say where I'm at charge wise, but just over 3500 fps.

Howdy !

Any info, you said....

I have a .224" cal wildcat that has a bit less case capacity than a 22-250AI.

I tried all the powder mentioned above plus VV160, WW796 and H414 in both a 24" 1-14 and a 28" 1-8.

With the fast-twist barrel, I got 3,500fps honest from
40.5gr AA3100 and FED LR Magnum Match under 75 "A"-Max.

The accuracy load was the result of as simple primer switch in the load. Going to FED LR Match shrunk groups dramatically, while vel only dropped to 3,420fps.
I used the 75"A"-Max for both live-varmint and paper punching. The load would have been good for a kill on a groundhog out @ 1,000, but I have not yet had the opportunity to take such a shot. The 1-8 grouped just fine.

You may want consider trying some AA3100, t00.

Best of luck in your endeavors !

Peter, I just finished working up loads for my 22 250AI.I used 35.0 of varget to fireform with 75 A-max loaded 5 thousandths into the lands.Lapua brass. This was very accurate in my Krieger 8 twist 28 inch barrel. My only concern fireforming was that I had a few primer pockets that were a little soft when I came back to load the next rounds. However they now have about 5 loadings and don't seem any looser. This load gave a velocity of 3270.I may back down a grain next time as I think this load may have been a little hot for the first firing in soft virgin brass.
My final accuracy load with the 75 A-max was 36.7 of IMR 4007SSC which gave 3300fps.As far as I am concerned I switched from the A-max before realizing its full potential and switched to Berger 82 gr for my match loads.
The bergers are shooting the best of all the bullets I have tried, with 3 shot groups at 100 yds ranging from zeros and ones up to .35.I load the Bergers 10 into the lands with 39.0 gr H4831sc,Fed match primers, vel.=3220.When working up my range card,it took less elevation to get on at 600 yds than my 6.5 284 with 140 Bergers.Placed the first 2 shots into a 2 in circle at 600.
My gun is a Panda Big Bore action in a Robertson brx stock smithed by "Stick" Starks of S&S Precision.I love it.I think some are doing well with 4007ssc and bergers or Sierra 80 smks using about 38 gr.Good luck.
