22-250 AI Loads??

I'm in the process of setting up a 22-250AI Long Range PD Rifle. It is a 40X, 2 oz trigger, 8-32 NF Scope, and a Kreiger 28" 1:9 Barrel with .254" No Turn Neck. I am going to shoot Hornaday 75 gr AMAX Moly's in it.
Hoping to get some advise on best powder and weight for accuracy and velocity.
Thanks for any Help!

play with the 60 grain v-max....i think u will like it,you can keep the velocity up there & get about 100 extra yds of real whoomp factor..If my calculations work out correctly The performance I expect from a reg 22-250 should be extended to 500 yds ..I just had a standard 22 250 barrel made to stabilize that bullet with a one in 12 twist....stick with IMR 4064 or Varget.I'd give H 380 a go also...mike in ct

Mike,
Thanks for the response but what you're talking about is what I'd call a mid range PD Gun. I've got a 22 PPC with No Turn neck for that service.
This 22-250AI is for beyond 500 yds. Hence the 75gr Amax with .440 BC and the 9 Twist Krieger. I've got plenty of experience loading a straight 22-250 with 12 to 14 Twist Bbl. and 50 to 60 gr Bullets.
I have no experience with a 22-250AI with 75gr Bullets!

Hi i have just tested a 22-250AI with projectiles frpm 55 to 90gr. The best data for the 80gr Sierra was a CCI BR2 primer Remington cases 41gr H4831sc at 3292fps in a 30" barrel 7 twist. I tried fireforming some factory Winchestor ammo and i split every case byt out of 150 Rem cases no problems at all. You could also go to H4350 but i found this load to be very accurate and have a low es and sd. I also have a 14 twist take off barrel that i chambered so i can fireform ammo in it first and then do not over wear the barrel but if you dont have one use the max load of H4350 for a 22-250 and a 75gr projectile and fireform at 500 yards while busting some pests.

You will flat out fall in love with that 75 grain A-max bullet in your 22/250 Ackley.
My 26 inch Pac-Nor SSSM 1 in 9 shoots them like little lasers at 500 yards using 37.5 grains of H-4350 and Federal 210M's.
I do need to turn the necks down a little but that don't bother me at all.

Preacher and Wild Bill - THANKS! That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for!

Speaking of Fireforming; I am planning on doing the same I do for my 6PPC Just fill the primed 22-250 Brass with Unique Shotgun Powder and plug with candle wax and fire. It doesn't do as good a job as a full load with a bullet but should be great for hunting rounds. Any Comments Welcome!:)

Esten: I have a 22-250 AI 8" twist for shooting little critters. I shoot 80gr smk's over 37gr of H-4350 and it punches nice holes in them. The other great bullets to try are the 65gr V-max, they just blow them up. I have also tried the Swift Sirocco 75gr. These are a little tricky given their length, you need a fair amount of free bore. But they shoot well in my gun and they are VERY explosive.

Also, I never fire form with anything other than a full load and a bullet in the pipe, why waste the time and the powder? Accuracy is still fairly good.
