22-250 AI load data

I have Just acquired a 22-250 AI from my father in law that was built in the 90s, less than 200 rounds on it. Hart 12 twist, I plan on running some 53 bergers, and some 55gr PRP customs. looking for some info on load data. from what I have read, alot of people run 4064 or Varget. both of which I have along with a bunch of other different powders. any info would be appreciated. thanks.

IMR4064 was pure magic in my .22-250 AI years ago. Work up your load in warmer weather if you go the 4064 route as it can get temperamental in the heat. It was, by far, the powder to beat. 50 gr bullets at 4000 fps did not make the Rockchucks happy! Good shooting too you.

I would like to say one thing. The case capacity of your 22-250 AI is now roughly equal to the case capacity of the 220 Swift. So keeping pressures equal, you should be keeping your bullets roughly the same speed as a 220 Swift little higher but not much because of sammi pressure specs. Some people on this website will tell you that you can run a 55 grain bullet at close to 4200 ft a second and everything is safe. I tell those people please let me know when you're at my range so I can leave, cuz when that bomb, that goes off next to your head, blows your gun apart. Maybe not the first shot maybe not the 200 shot but at some point. I don't want to be a part of the accident report. Please take it for what it is. It's a great cartridge have fun with it. I ran a 220 Swift improved for many years a lot of prairie dogs and groundhogs died, it was a lot of fun.

I run varget in mine with those weight bullets. 40.5g with a 51g hammer gets 4000fps and great accuracy. I use lapua brass with fed GM215M primers. Brass is on its 6th loading with this load and zero issues so far, tight pockets and no clicks. I use this solely for coyote hunting and have tested from 20°-85° with very little change in velocity or POI.

H1000 you welcome
I use H1000 with 75g bullets and up…and it does work great and also very temp stable for me…but it didn’t work nearly as well with the lighter bullets…never could get over 3750fps (compressed load)before running out of room in the case…just a touch to slow of a powder I think for the lighter bullets

In my tired old 14 twist 24" barrel I was running a case full, & I do mean full, of an older lot of H4350 or some equivalent Scot 4351 with 53 gr Hornady Match seated long (2.485") for about 3950fps. One 2021 lot of the newer H4350 with the shorter grains also proved to be a good equivalent. This in '90s era WW brass & Fed 215s or WLRs.

The same combination with Acc 2700 was also good in the spring but spiked the pressure with temp increases in July. I started with 43 gr of both 2700 & the 4350s & worked up.

Before the barrel gave up the ghost, I had started working with Varget, which I never increased to pressure, & N550 which was promising at c. 3950fps. Started with 39 & 40 gr. respectively & worked up. The new barrel will be a 26" 12 twist. Wondering how the 53 V-max will work.

Yes I apologize I use the 69TMK with H1000 and H4350 for the 53vmax, sucks getting old
