Does anyone have a .22-250 30* imp.???

Looking for case capacity info and load info with 70-75gr. bullets.

Thanks,
Phil.

Phil -

I have read the capacity for a 40* shouldered' .22-250AI = 45.75 gr H2O.

That should give a pretty good idea of the capacity for a 30* variant.

I just stuff them in the magazine box and kill stuff! No brainer! I HAVE NOT changed the feed rails, mag box, nor follower, nor has anyone else that I know if that had chambered a Remington 700 S.A. in this caliber.

Nuff Said! Get a std 40* angle if you are shooting a Rem 700!!!

30* 22/250 AI, I am laughing my butt off at even entertaining the idea?

Now AMII.........go easy big guy. We all are casting about looking for enlightenment. You know there is a lot of info out there to be read and some of it talks about the 40° being problematic with feeding......at least for some it would seem. So, not a bad question - if I hadn't talked with you and heard some of your feed back, I would have asked the same question.

Didja getcher power dropped and things spinning?

My ackley is on a Salvage stagger feed and feeds fine. I ran some rounds through a pre-64 model 70 and they fed fine. I've ran some through a Tikka T3 and fed just fine.

Mine is a savage staggerfeeed as well. It is one heck of a laser beam,LOL. Do youself a favor and get a no turn neck unless you like turning necks.

I've built a few 40 deg Ackley's on 700's, all fed great. An awesome, fun cartridge. Pretty rough on coyote's!

Since the standard 22-250 has a 28° shoulder, I can not understand why anyone would go through the trouble and cost of special reamers, and specially made dies, just for 2° of improvement??

CS...I think a "true" AI will have a 40° shoulder. It also blows out the case taper to increase capacity. Then there is always the case growth and a bit less bolt thrust - so some say.

After P.O got his AI name going, a lot of wildcatters called their creation an Ackley Improved if they changed the angle. I've heard of 35° being called "Ackley". I think it became a generic name for that type of improvement.

Pause......

I'm back. I just leafed through a book published by Wolfe on cartridge dimensions/drawings. That pretty well proved out the above. There were/are some designations that will include the shoulder angle in the chambering name. E.G. .257 Roberts Improved (RCBS 28°), 250-3000 Improved (30°), then the 250-3000 Ackley Improved - which is 40° for comparison. RCBS seemed to like the 28° and labeled several chamberings that way.
