21st Century Neck Sizing Die & Inserts

So, what do these actually do? Is this primarily for prep for neck turning? I'm envisioning the ability to size the entire neck without sizing the case. Are there other applications? The ability to size a neck on new brass without having to FLS it? Transferring entire neck thickness to inside so it can be reamed in lieu of turning? Give you the ability to determine the length of bullet tension as well as the 'size' of it based on the bushing?

Another thought:
1. FLS case using bushing die, no bushing, no expander, basically sizing everything except the neck.
2. Use neck die with appropriate insert
3. Use appropriately sized expander mandrel (this step could be optional)
4. Load and shoot.

Just guessing here, as usual.

Who uses this and how do you use it?

No agenda here, just trying to learn.

Thanks.

Rich

I hate missing out on something, especially if that something is something that I don't know something about..... wait, that sounded better in my head....

I used it neck down 6.5 case to 6mm in one step it worked great in that application you can use it to just necksize thou I recommend fls

So another question, which size to get? If I normally use a .244 bushing in my FLS bushing die (this is for a 222 w/.0110 Lapua) do I order the .244?

Anyone else have some input?

Thanks
Here is another thread on this product.
I bet @Dusty Stevens or Pete @Petros284 will come along an answer your questions after they wake up from the turkey coma.

Dusty, check out the original post on this thread.
Do you know the answers to those questions?

Sorry i was kinda lost on all the threads! The neck sizing die works for setting final neck tension easily and quickly and to be able to size down past where a bushing gets. You can also use it for wildcatting making brass even though that wasnt its intention.

Sorry, If the 21 Century die can size the whole neck it can be used to size the neck for turning. Redding type S bushing dies will not size the whole neck.

Keep in mind that any time you size the neck without supporting the body you introduce eccentricity between the body and the neck.

I looked all over their web site and could find no listing of the die body or its cost. Perhaps someone can furnish a link to what I missed.

I think it's the OPTION button with the first insert.
Neck Sizing Inserts: .249
with Neck Sizing Die Body:
Short $94.98

Sorry all. Been really busy with all going on this weekend! Dusty hit it right on the head. It is a multi-purpose neck die. I’ve used it as an additional step in my process after using a body die. A few of us have actually used these for years while it was being developed. I feel it sizes the neck better than other options and gets further down toward the neck/shoulder junction as well. It does not induce any additional runout thanks to the floating nature of the insert. The black nitride is a plus too. I will set final tension with a mandrel. I’ve also seen some great results from multiple wildcatters necking down multiple calibers in steps too.

Yes, you would order the .244 insert along with the short die body to work with your .222. Holler at me if you need anything else at all.
