215gr Hybrid still a valid option?

Hi
The latest AB update gives a G7 of 0.347 (previous 0.354) for the 215gr Hybrid, its a 2% loss. The 20x is G7 0.328gr(unpointed) and the 208gr G7 0.352(factory pointed). I know you can point it but there will be less speed and more recoil in 300wsm. Is it still the best bullet for Fopen?

Regards

I've shot the 215gr in years gone by and ran it pointed when I did. With RL23 behind it, it was a very hard bullet to fault - recoil management is the big thing to manage when running it at 2920fps, aside from that it was a cracker.

With RL23 supplies now dried up in Australia at least, I've tested the 208gr with the aim of trying to run it around 2900fps if it will group up there. My first test showed promise at 2880, and another group held half X ring elevation at 800 metres travelling at 2915fps, although I think that load may end up running into pressure during summer in Australia.

To answer your question, IMO, yes.
This example is from a 600 target using my Rem700/Kreiger 5R 1-10 300wm in a KRG Bravo chassis from my LRP field pack. No neccessarily an Fopen platform.
Wind was stiff L to R, with let-offs. My POA was L between 10 and X. No real concern for windage, was sampling vertical that day. As you can see, the 215hyb maintained exceptional waterline with a few wind-spits. I'd say, bullet is still viable. 20240411_153948.jpg

With the minimal differences you are talking BC wise, Just choose the one that shoots the best out of your rifle and run it.
