20br barrel length

Am building a 20br on a Tika T3 action. The plan is to shoot 39gr sierra BK. Anyone have one that could coment on velocity vs barrel lengh?

Mine used molyed 39gr bullets pac nor 12 twist finished at 26.

With a STOUT load of benchmark i was easily over 4000.

Should have never sold that rifle,one of the most accurate i have owned.

I have 3 my forth with a 9 twist was sold. They rang from 22 to 26 inch and all with benchmark will do over 4k with 39 grn sierras or 40 grain bergers. Most fun you will have pulling the trigger! !

Sounds like a carry gun...keep it 24-26" max...

Mine is 28" no taper Savage large shank....could rechamber it 3-4

times........if I lived long enough...

Try this velocity vs barrel length estimator: http://shootersnotes.com/calculator/velocity-estimator/. You will need to start with a known load -- plenty of those for the BR! Of course it will also let you play with powder charge weights and bullet weights too.

Mine is built to carry for coyote hunting.

Built of a 700, 24" barrel. 50s at just under 3700, 40s at 4k

XSwanted-- Mine will be for winter coyotes also. What powder are you using for the40's ? I will need a temp insensitive powder. Any one know if primers can sensitive to -30 ? I already know poor(cheap) scopes don't like it.

I don't carry my 20BR...

Goes from my Toyota to to table...then dogs die.........

shilen select grade 1.250 strait 28 long 39gr blitz kings at 3950 h4895. P-dogs kills over 700 yards.
