208 grain Amax in .300 WSM?

Is anyone running this in their WSM? I am interested in trying some. I currently use 190 SMK's and 64.0 grains of IMR 4350 I cannot seem to find any load data for the 208 and the WSM. Here is my best group with the 190's most groups are in the .5"-.75" range at 200 yards

well thats what everyone says however I am getting bored with it if you know what i mean. I have 250 or so of this loaded up just thought I might try the Amax for something to do. The BC of the 208 Amax is incredible compared to the 190 SMK. I have never shot this rifle over 200yds on paper so I would like to see how far out it will hold this. It is a factory barreled Model 12 Savage heavy barrel with a Choate stock and a JP brake and a Zeiss 6.5-20

Brad, The group you have posted would hold up at any distance with the 190 class bullet providing the ES and SD are low. The only way to find out is to get out and shoot it. I test and chrono my loads at 100 yards and do some local competitions at 600 and do fine. Believe me, you'll do just fine.

If your board, get a .22 and practice at 200. Don't "F" with that load

Thanks for the advise. I know what you are saying. I am i the process of re-barreling my .22-.250 to a 6 x 47 Lapua so I guess that will keep me busy for awhile...

Are you currently set up for heavy or lights in your 22-250. That can be a very potent cartridge with the 69 grn through 75 grn heads out to 600 yards.

Brad, just rebarrel that 22-250 with a 7.5 or 8 twist and get yourself some 75 grn A-max's and let em rip. 3200+ fps will get you everything you need.

Brad,
Some Of the guy's over on snipershide are getting some impressive results with the 208 amax's. I'll try to post the link.

These guy's are shooting the 208s in a .308 and getting some good results. I would think you could get even better results out of a 300wsm. I am going to play with the 190s and RL17 in a few weeks. From what I have read about RL17 and from what friends tell me RL17 is suppose work best in the short mags. I am anxiously awaiting for weather to improve to try this powder in my .308 and 270wsm. I'm not sure how well it will do in my 270wsm I have also heard that this powder is best behind heavy bullets. I shoot the 130s and 140s in my 270wsm. They are plenty for what I need. Whitetail, pronghorn, and muledeer. With that being said I still just would like to try it out and see the results.

Good luck and if you try the 208s post your results.
Thanks
Mark

Thanks for the info I will post the results if I get around to trying them...

Wow,

I didn't know that bullet had such a high B.C.! When I start reloading I will be giving these babies a try. I have a 1-10 twist in my .308 and 300wsm.

LOL....I'm even beginning to believe that I won't have to swap my .308 for a 6.5 and the 300wsm for a 7wsm Hahahaha!

RL17
I have not tried it or know anything about it but thought I would pass along what I have read about it from a guy that maybe knows what he is talking about but he says that RL17 burns hotter that the other powders and may burn throats quicker
