204 ruger bullet performance?

anybody hunt coyote with a 204 ? I have shot a bunch of groundhods w the 32gr blitzking with only a small exit hole. Was think about hunt yotes with it but don't thinks enough gun? Any opinions? The gun seems to want to shoot the 32s a lot better than the 39s bk

Its more than enough. I've taken yotes with a 17 Ackley Hornet and 20 grain bullets. The 32's will do fine out of the .204R, with correct shot placement

I too was concerned that the .204 was not enough gun for coyotes compared to my .243. I started with 32gr. BTs but I switched to 35gr Bergers and have no problems even beyond 400 yards (in one instance WELL beyond). Incidentally the 40gr Bergers shoot every bit as well as the 35s it's a question of finding the right powder and charge, if you don't increase in 1/10 of a grain increments with this small capacity case it's very easy to miss the "sweet spot". Powders that work for me are H4895 and Varget, Benchmark is good too and others have recommended BL-C2. Hope that this helps.
Jim.

Thanks jim! I ll give them bergers a try. Been loading benchmark and I do have some 4895 to try. That sure puts my mind at ease. I haven't shot a yote w my 204 yet. This will change soon I hope!

? not enough gun? Its all about shot placement. Im in Australia and hypatheticly I could shoot kangaroos with a 22 longrifle and could shoot them with a 17 remington out to 300 yards and further if it wasnt windy. Also could some1 find a way of sending a heap of groundhogs and coyotes over to Australia so we can have the fun you guys get shooting them
