204 Ruger Brass

If anyone is looking for loaded ammo LAX has 204 Ruger Fiocchi 32gr Vmax in stock. It's not a great price but in todays market it's not terrible either.

Anyone ever shot this stuff, does it shoot anything like the Hornady 32gr Vmax ammo? I've bought a lot of rimfire ammo from LAX before and they've always been great to deal with.

I burned many cases of their 40 grain.
The only issues I would mention, is year to year, batch to batch velocity variations that are significant enough that you have to track them to keep your dope in line.
A few split necks in the batch on the first shot are also something that I have seen every year.

ETA: wow, just saw that price and was bummed. Also, they are not selling bricks, just boxes of 50.
Really makes me wonder when in 2022 the cost of this stuff is more than we paid for Black Hills match ammo before the crisis.

I've been getting third party warnings when 204 brass comes in stock. The last few days, outfits have been dropping 204 Nolser brass in bags of 250 pieces.

It isn't the worst or best I have used, but the latest prices are bumming me out. First Natchez at $174.99, then Precision Reloading at $195.78, and today was Brownell's at $214.99

That trend for mid level brass, that I still have to sort and detail, doesn't make my day.

According to Nosler, their brass is weight sorted, chamfered/deburred, primer pockets uniformed and 'trimmed' for length. But do know that almost all their brass is trimmed .010" under SAAMI max length.

On the box, Nosler says their brass is "ready to load". Take that as you may.

Hey Rick, I think that only applies to their brass that comes in the box. I'm not sure the above applies to the more bulk like brass that comes in bags. Maybe it does but I don't think so.

I must be out of the loop.....was not even aware they sold bagged bulk brass.
I learn something new every day here. Thanks for the heads-up.

No worries, minor detail.

Yeah, Nosler sells it in 250 count bags and if I recall they call it "unprepped" or something like that. I think it's quite a bit less expensive too.
They have some in stock now for around 240$ for a bag of 250 the bulk unprepped stuff

I have had some better luck with the boxed Norma Shooter's Pack, but can't say the same for the Nosler boxed brass. It was as if they skipped all that "screening and sorting" on some boxes. Maybe someone had a bad day and it was my bad luck to end up with the results, cause other times it was much better.

The current prices on their bagged stuff, is not making me happy since that stuff is often known to have a yield problem, but costs as much as premium brass anyway.

I never can get a straight answer from Nosler as to which brass they make versus the brass Norma makes for them. Sometimes they say "we make all our own brass" while other times they've told me they only make some of it and Norma makes some of it. Sooooo which is it???

I’ve used the bag brass and it was not prepped like the box stuff . But no big deal compared to the other bag brass brands on the market.
