204 ruger 55gr. velocity

in about a month im getting my 204 to shoot 55's and im curios what some are getting for velocity and powder ?
I want to get top speeds so it will help with expansion.

What twist is your barrel?

Does the freebore allow full exposure of the nose?

I have used H414 in the 20 Grendel which has about 10% more capcity than the Ruger.

That experience suggests that you should be able to get better than 3100 fps with H414 or slightly faster powders.

I am using CFE223 in my 9 twist Ruger 204 out of my AR. I remember that I was up at the top end of the range but have never checked speed on it. It did seem to stabilize it but I only shot 5-10 rounds out of it so far...

My 28" 8.5tw PacNor .20-.223AI pushes the 55 grain Berger to 3640 fps using RL17. The formed cases hold 32.4 grains of H2O and should be close to the 204R.

What powder weight are you using?

What pressure signs do you see?

That velocity is 50fps FASTER than Western Powders gets from a 24" 20 PPC with a 50 gr bullet running at 63,000 psi

No pressure signs and have 5 reloads on the case. I prefer not to list charge weights online but will say it's a case full. Velocity confirmed by two chrono's and come ups. Barrel length is the key.

RL17 may also have someting to do with it. QuckLoad shows it to be a standout performer in my cartridge too.

I have a bottle in transit (I hope) from Graf's and plan to try it soon.

I have a 1/8 twist 26" match barrel .204 Ruger on a small Bat action.
Amazingly accurate with 39 BK as well??!!
The 55gr Bergers are running just on 3300 fps with a load of W748.
I found that W748 gave the closest to factory velocities for me with 39BK plus works with the 55gr.
Obviously meters very well also.

55gr berger bthp match varmints with 25.4gr of hodgdens h4895 will get u 3350fps with a 1-8 or 1-9 twist rate and they hammer the dogs pretty good

im gonna try h4895 first since I have a truck load of it because my 223's love it
