204 Dogtown Brass

Mike in Oregon

I did a search and read some interesting stuff on both Dogtown and Hornady brass from back in the day. So, has Hornady stepped up their game in their primer pocket issues? Also, where are we on Dogtown brass?

Mike...

Like Mike said, Midway. I recently bought some of the Dogtown brass in .243 Winchester. Price was good and I currently use Nosler brass for this caliber anyway. A random check showed cases to be uniform in length and necks were very uniform in thickness. Weight varied only +- 2 grains but most were virtually the same weight. I haven't loaded any yet, but it sure looks promising. No promises concerning other runs or calibers.

Not sure, but as the Dogtown bullets were all Nosler, probably seconds due to the pricing, it may be reasonable to 'assume' it's their brass too, just not their "ready to load" stuff that sells as a premium product.

Can't confirm or deny, but it seems reasonable. I use their 'first' brass as an alternative to Lapua when I can't find it.

Got 400 2 years ago, some cases stretched .005 -.010,noticed some also had a small knife edge groove 1/2" above base inside New unfired case, had a few that had the Start of casehead seperation, just a deep groove, maybe a little softer than other brands. these were loaded with Rem 7 1/2, 27.5 H4895 & 40 V-Max,Max load is 27.7 grains,. have Win, Rem, Nosler, Norma Hornady & Dogtown cases, have only seen this in dogtown.
