Can you just fire form from standard brass?

Not me personally, but i don`t see why you couldn`t.....

Did that! Fire forms easy from 204R. Not worth it ballistics wise for 39 grain bullets. We only got 25-30 fps increase from a 26 inch barrel. 204R already has a straight case, short neck and going 40degrees on the shoulder doesn't add much.

Agreed velocity would be minimal but the engraving on the barrel would be cool!!!!!

I have a good friend who built one using 'fast' 1:9twist barrel. He's convinced the AI is worth the effort & really likes it. Forgot what he was pushing 50s at, but he runs a custom 38gr Unmussig spooled up @ 4150. He only neck sizes & never trims brass...

Yes, you can fire standard .204R case in a properly chambered AI, that's the whole idea...

the performance is very similar to the 20-223 AI. If you go the 20-223 AI route you have much more readily available brass and also dies. You can use 223AI bushing dies which are reasonably priced.
