204 39 gr BKs

I was surprised at my new load because of the speed I was achieving. My new load is 27.2 grs of H4895 with R.E.M. 7 1/2. My primers are barely flat and no swiping or lift problems. Case base measurements are perfect. My speed is 3894 as recorded by my Magnetospeed. My SDs are around 27-28 checked several times. Anyone else see these figures?

What cartridge? Velocity is on the high side for 20P, typical for 204R. Of course barrel length is a big factor.

Thats what I thought about the speed. My cases are standard run of the mill .204 Hornady annealed and on 3rd firing. The barrel is a a 26" Shilen-less than 200 rounds

I use 27.5 grains in my LRP with very similar results. Silverfox turned me on to this powder years ago when R10X was in short supply and I never changed back.

About right. I'm getting 3850fps out of my 204 with 27.6grs of H4895 with a 39gr sierra. That's with a 24" barrel.

My squirrel shooting partner has a new 204R with 26" Criterion barrel. I chronographed it recently. Hornady 40 grain factory ammo at 3900 fps
