The waiting list is getting short and we may allow a few more registrations for the event. If you are interested, send an email to highpower@bayourifles.org with name, contact info, rifle type and NRA classification, if any. We will get back to you if an opening occurs within the next two weeks.
Looking for a F open team sub, one member could not make it if you want to join S.D. Sleddogs for the day, please let the match director or Diego-Ted know.
Congrats to Ray Weaver, F-TR winner, Tim Vaught, F-Open winner and Stace Tamulinas, Any/Any winner.
Congrats to Team Bullet Central, F-Open Team winners.
We had some great sponsors who donated prizes, support and various items.
I met Troy Goltz from Bullet Central in North Dakota. He came with his team and won the Team matches. He also provided several valuable prizes for the prize table; 5 certificates for 100% discount on Micron Precision dies and 12 ThorroClean bore cleaning systems. (Note to self, I need to order some of that.)
As an aside, I bought my Bix'N Andy trigger from Bullet Central a couple months ago and the service was awesome. It was great to meet Troy and his team. Bullet Central is now one of my favorite place to buy stuff.
Erik Cortina donated several of his tuners for the prize table and also provided hundreds of bottles of water which were consumed by the shooters, staff and spectators. Tim Vaught provided the ice and when Erik and Tim rolled in with the water and ice, they filled the big coolers.
Deon Optical supplied many of their new caps and these were scarfed up very quickly. They also provided bags and pens, which were all snapped up. They provided a $500 coupon for a March riflescope and the drawing took place using a smartphone app that picked a number. Larry Bartholome won the coupon.
Bryan Blake of F-Class Products, donated several of those indispensable ammo caddies to the prize table and they were well appreciated by their recipients. (Another note to self: I need to order one of those also.)
The shooters were awesome, and while the heat and humidity were quite oppressive on Saturday, everyone behaved properly and helped each other out. It made my match director duties a lot easier, and the match moved along at a good clip.
By the time Sunday rolled around, everyone was into the drill and things went very quickly. I had placed an order for difficult conditions for the Sunday match and we were rewarded with extra special BRI conditions with a heaping portion of unexplained verticals. I know everyone enjoyed that.
We did get a new national record set by Nick Abbott, an awesome F-TR shooter. He shot a 200-10X on match 1 (Saturday morning) and thus surpassed the existing Police record of 199-8 (IIRC). Nick is a super guy, and we are all very happy for him.
I was assisted by Joe Regina and Peter Ackerson on the line and I placed myself at the low-end where we squad our slingers. I pace the match for them as they don their shooting jackets and so on so it's easier if I stay in that area. I did get to see various shooters as we resquadded for the second day. I enjoy watching all the shooters and try to learn some things watching folks like Norm Harrold, Tim Vaught, Ken Dickerman, Tod Hendricks, Omar Alonzo, Erick Cortina, Ray Weaver, Randy Littleton (junior), Jenniffer Bondurant, and so many others. I also notice the juniors doing their thing and they are very good. I am always in awe of the Grand Seniors, and always notice them when they line up and shoot. Larry Bartholome shot well in F-Open and Ray Weaver won F-TR.
First-Thank you to the gracious sponsors of the prize table at this year's TSRA!
Erik Cortina with Cortina Precision (3 $200 cash awards to the winners of Any Rifle, F-Open, and FTR) + 4 EC tuners. He also sponsored the hot firing line, and even hotter pits with ice & water.
Troy Goltz representing Bullet Central presented 6 100% off Micron Die Certificates, and 2 dozen ThoroClean Certificates.
Bryan Blake representing FClass Products with 3 annodized ammo caddies w/timers.
And Deon Optics (March Scopes) presented by Denys, put forth a 50% off certificate for one of their top shelf cutting edge state of the art optics.
Please join me in giving these vendors the recognition they deserve how you see fit (likes on social media, pms, emails).
Hopefully the award schedule this year helped set the hook on some of our newer shooters, so we see them back next year putting the pressure on the entire field yet again.
Second-Also a big pat on the back and thank you for sharing the burden of running this match go to Neil Woody, Denys, Joe Regina, Pete Ackerson, Doug Skogman, Carl Matthews, Rick Aurich, Richard Goody, Dan S (Pit Boss) & Ben Brooks. Without selfless servants like these, we don't have matches.
Third-Last a big shout out to all the out of towners for making the TSRA the high density top level competitive field it was. Travel isn't easy or cheap, and your attendance really made the match special, to both the old seasoned TSRA vets, to the first timers, and everyone in between.
Tim, the Bayou Club put on a great match & you put on an unbelievable show yourself... dropping only 6 points out of 1,000, with 55% of your shots in the 5" X-ring in the conditions we had is unbelievable.

Just a quick update. Larry Bartholome won the $500 coupon from Deon for a March scope. He contacted us to ask if he could pass along the coupon to a junior shooter, Abigail Victoria, as he was well stocked up with riflescopes. We contacted Deon and the US seller, with whom the process had been established, Long Range Supply.com and they agreed to the transaction. Don Carter of longrangesupply.com further increased the value of the coupon by $200 to a total of $700. Abigail was very happy when she heard the news and has since received the coupon.
Kudos to Larry for such a nice gesture, and also to Deon as well as Don Carter of LRS for their generosity and the extra step in support of our sport and the juniors.
