2021 Winter Regional at Ben Avery

Hi Everyone,

With about one week to go, I'd like to provide an update and answer some of the questions that have been posted.
1. We currently have 45 folks signed up for Friday and 70 for the weekend. There is room for 90 entries, so you still have time to register!

2. Squadding will be emailed the afternoon/evening before the event. This will apply for Day 1, 2, and 3 of the tournament.

3. Regarding the pair-firing event, I consider this the highlight of the entire weekend. Pair-firing is a blast. The short answer to how it works is you will have 45 seconds to fire your shot after you have announced your partner's score. You score for each other. Given that we will be pair-firing at 1,000 yards, this will be a real test of wind-reading abilities. Hopefully, the wind gods will bless us with a challenging day. :)

4. Covid-19. The bad news is Arizona has been a hot spot for several weeks. The good news is case counts peaked about a week ago and seem to be heading sharply lower (down 20% today from 5 days ago). Additional good news is our governor has not imposed any further restrictions on activities and the range is still open for business. I will email another update next week.

5. Finally, I just want to clarify that the Mickey Mouse clock is not currently part of the awards, but if Dean wants to offer some up, we can make adjustments. :)

Uhhh...real men (and women) arrive at 11:00pm the night before the match and shoot a 2 sighter 3x20@1000 the next day....... I guess you are asking for Omar? :D :D :D
No Omar is tough enough to figure it out and adapt. it takes me 8-10 shots grouping high low left right which ever before I decide... HEY> Maybe if I had moved my scope 10 minutes ago, I would have more x's
(...or points :O)

Great match, thank you! Awesome shooting Johnny! Edit, thanks Scott for fixing score below on the sheet and thank you and your family!!

We want to thank everyone who attended this event, especially those travelling from out of state. Saturday’s 600 yard match had gentle winds and high scores were posted. The Sunday 1,000 yard match was quite another story. While all the divisions had difficult winds, the F-Open division DEFINITELY had the worst of it.

The F-Open division started the day as relay 1, with 15 to 30 mph quartering winds. Their scores reflected the challenge, but one competitor stood head and shoulders above the rest. Johnny Ingram from Texas managed to drop only 6 points, vaulting him to a commanding lead that he held for the rest of the match. Johnny won day-2 and the over-all aggregate, with $1,300 in winnings. David Gosnell and Tim Vaught rounded out the Open division, coming in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Randy Teissedre won the Any Rifle division with a solid 1183-68 aggregate, taking home $650 in winnings.

Christine Harris won the F-TR division and donated her $700 in winnings back to the club. ;)

Finally, Oliver Milanovic proved to be as tough as ever, winning the aggregate and taking home a total of $825 for the weekend. Honorable mention goes to Jerry Iliff of Texas. He posted solid scores all weekend and took 2nd, 4 points behind Oliver.

Finally, a big thank you to all the volunteers who served as range officers: Gene Diehl, Dick Leopold, Christa Bell, Jessica Heinstein, Sean Harris, Devon Harris, and Adrian Harris. We could not have run such a great match without your dedication and attention to detail!

See you on the line,
Scott Harris

PS. V2 Finale Points for the weekend are also attached. These results aggregate scores from the Friday and Sunday 1,000 yard events.

Good match report, thanks Scott.

I have watched Johnny @johnnyi from the start of his "F-Class Career". He had a "stock" Remington 700 rifle for a 300 yard match at Bayou Rifles. For a "newbie" he outshot most of us in Open, as he was shooting T/R! Johnny escalated to hold many Bayou Rifles Range records, which are quite impressive in their own right. Then I saw him tie the 300 yrd National Record with a 200-31Xs! Now he comes out to Ben Avery and in winds that would make a brass monkey flinch, and he drops only 6 points, where the "normal" in that match was north of 15! He sailed on to win it all, with some of the finest shooting, against some of the finest shooters assembled in one match from all over the country! GREAT JOB JOHNNY>>>I am very proud of you!
