2021 - Current 6mm Dasher Reamer and Brass Consensus

Thinking about building a second 6mm Dasher for Midrange F-Open. I have a rifle [chamber] that is a bit odd--I think. A few of us purchased a reamer together that has a case length of 1.570, very long for Lapua BR brass and short for Norma Dasher brass. The throat is .130 which seems to work fine for the 105 Hybrids and VLDs I've been shooting.

I have 5 firings on most of the Norma brass that I've been using and am now loosing about 10% of the cases (5 out of 50) due to loose primer pockets. That may be more load related than brass related. I'm shooting 105 VLDs at 2980 FPS out of a 27" barrel using Norma 203B. I can live with 6-7 firings out of the brass as long as it stays consistent though more case life would be better.

Most of the Dasher posts in this forum that involve reamer discussions are old, many dating back to 2016 and before. I see that Norma Dasher brass is somewhat available and I have a reasonable number of Lapua 6BR cases that I could FF for a new Dasher.

Assuming a barrel lasts about a year, I want to stay away from reamers that are spec'd for the better hand made bullets. They just aren't available at this time and I am not sure anyone knows when they will be again.

It would be nice to ream the chamber to use the Norma brass w/o having to trim .03 off each case. Is the Shiraz/PTG reamer (T-10902) still a viable and competitive reamer? If not, what would you suggest for case length and throat? Would like to stay with the .272 no-turn neck even though I will make sure the necks are of consistent thickness.

Thank you,
Henryrifle

If it was me, I'd stick with your current reamer and use the Lapua brass. The case OAL is fine, even if your cases are short. I have a proven reamer that has the long 1.570 and it does just fine with 1.550 brass. Keep in mind if you do get a new reamer with a shorter OAL, your .130 FB will leave you with a bullet seated deeper where it touches the lands and may not work well with hybrids. Eventhough it is a 130FB. I like a shorter FB reamers and lengthen throat in a separate OP to run desired bullets.

My PTG reamer is 104 FB, and .272 neck. I no turn Alpha brass. It shoots tiny.
