2020 Florida 600 yard IBS Championship

Do know the IBS shoot at Manatee yesterday was well attended. Sick with the flue, I missed the shoot and am still not even close to slightly feeling better. NEVER get a flue shot. I did last week and I am suffering and missed yesterday's fun. Soon as I get some results I will post what I know.

From what I was told, Manatee mirage and wind ruled yet some shot super. Getting ready to make the Florida Championship a Florida thing as many are coming to take it up north again. Steel sighter plates are back in use, modified by Doug Bell in a marathon week of work for him. Excited to see them in action come February 22nd and 23rd. That is if I am still "above ground".

Thanks Larry....We really missed you yesterday. You are a very big part of our IBS matches and the gong matches. Hurry up and get well.
Now that we have our sighter plates back up, we are working on getting our gongs back in time for our next gong match. Larry Torkdorf and I have come up with a gong set up that Jack is ok with us, to set up and try. I feel pretty confident that we will have our gongs back for our next gong match. Cross your fingers. Doug

Doug,

You are the MVP of Manatee. You drive tens of miles through tens of red lights EACH DAY to the range. Then you work all day for us, spend your money on parts and tools with daily hard labor.

Forget me. I am just an old BS'r with a loud mouth. You are the essential thread that keeps us going and I appreciate it. Hope others do. Was gratified to see your picture sent to me for some award yesterday.

Here you are getting something from Eric Bostrom. Maybe the DOUG BELL special award? Smile next time and may you keep on winning.

Larry, Get well soon We need you.
We also need to thank Clary and Eric for great job scoring and the computer work and Richard, Alex and Mike with the targets.
And let’s not forget Steve Krauss

Thanks again Larry... Through all that hair I was smiling.:D The trophy was 1st place for HG high score agg. It was a good day for me. We are so fortunate to have a great group of people that help to make our matches a success. I am just a small part of making this all happen. You and Steve Krauss are the 2 that made the IBS matches even possible. We had a ton of mirage yesterday which made it very difficult to shoot well. I, like a few others we were lucky enough to pull the trigger at the right time. My last 2 targets were in a condition where when I seen the condition, I had the to pull the trigger immediately or it was gone.......I did not see or hear of one hiccup during the match, and Steve did a great job of being in charge. Thanks to all who made this one another successful IBS match. Yes Eric and Clary did a super job of scoring. Doug

Al,

My trailer and quad are still at the club. Not sure I am competent to go pick them up so they will sit out longer. Also never got a copy or information on results. Edited your pictures and could do a report but kind of silly without results.

It is past your tun to be up "on the box" after one of these IBS shoots. Get that act together for February when shooters will be there with their "A" game.

We did have great match yesterday. 22 all IBS shooters. Northerly winds, in your face created more difficult conditions, but man everyone is sure improving. Attached find the Match results .pdf without the equipment list. Will revise and post here or start a new thread. Will also then on the IBS site.

Ya, shooting steel at the same distance as targets should see the scores improve. We are using a high quality paint/primer in white. Shows the hits well. Steve

Getting close. Anymore shooters interested in spending a weekend in sunny, but cooler winter. Spots still available. Feb 22nd and 23rd.

I am not sure I would as you said "NEVER get a flu shot" but I usually do not schedule my flu shot within 2 weeks of an upcoming important event I plan on attending.

Don't remind me of that right now.

Supposed to be at Manatee now working with management on the design and placement of steel targets for our BR shooters only to use at 600. The club has issues with bullets leaving the grounds but NOT from us. Still, we are being monitored and criticized for our target placements though years of usage has shown no issues with us. Well I am NOT there obviously.

Not a flue issue. Sunday I had my wife on motorcycle for a short ride of less than a 1/2 mile to look at roof colors. Front brake locked up the front wheel as it evidently expanded the fluid with a serious problem. Down we went and flung across the road. Two people in their mid-70's ground up by the "sausage grinder', as Hunter S. Thompson used to say.

Just struggling to somehow get moving so I can even make the upcoming shoots. Damnable luck with flue and more. I would take the flue again in exchange if I could.
