Stay frosty, my friend.
Hello to all Long Range Marksmen!
The Virginia 1000 Yard Benchrest Club is holding its State Championship match at the Harry Jones Memorial Range in Fairview WV on Saturday September 1st and Sunday September 2nd. Monday September 3rd (Labor Day) is the rain date. Shooting starts at 9 am each day.
Matches 7&8 will be shot on Saturday, and Matches 9&10 will be shot on Sunday. Targets will be scored for group and score relay and shoot-off winners to determine IBS points per IBS rules. Winner plaques will be awarded for LG and HG group & score winners. And we will of course make our special cash awards for the Stevie Wonder (largest group) and the New Math (smallest score) winners.
In addition, we will use an 8 target aggregate to determine State Champions using relay target groups and scores (four light gun and four heavy gun target aggregates). State Champions will receive plaques and cash awards ($200 for Two Gun Champion; $100 each for LG and HG Overall Champions; and $50 each for LG and HG Group and Score Champions).
Our Sponsors have been absolutely fantastic at providing prizes for this match. The total of cash and prizes amounts to about $9500. Prizes will be awarded using a random draw. Here is what we will have on the prize table:
· NightForce optics: Two 12-42x56 Benchrest scopes
· Douglas Barrels: Two XXX Stainless barrels
· Eazor Precision: Certificates for their EPS Bullets
· Capstone Precision: Certificates for their Lapua/Berger/VihtaVuori/SK products
· Bat Machine Company: Certificate toward one of their actions
· Defiance Machine: Certificate toward one of their actions
· Matthews Long Range Supply: A pile of great reloading supplies
· Hornady Manufacturing: Certificates for their bullets and reloading supplies
· Graf and Sons: Sightron 3-9x40 scope and Nosler reloading manuals
· Virgina 1000 Yard Benchrest Club: two Lyman sonic cleaners, BenchSource annealer, Federal and CCI primers, Lapua brass, Browning trail camera, Cabela’s Armor Extreme rifle case, and RCBS powder measure/bench primer/Partner Reloading Press.
We are trying to line up a cook for the match. If this fails we will make a hot dog run into town.
Lots of IBS points will be on the line. We are expecting a large crowd. Remember to bring your IBS Membership Card to qualify for shoot-offs and IBS points (this is a new IBS rule this year). IBS Membership is not required for our State Championship awards or prizes, but your rifles and rests must comply with IBS rules.
So tune your rifles and make plans to compete with many of the best 1000 Yard Benchrest shooters in the nation. We are expecting a really big crowd, so be sure to get your hotel reservation soon—Fairmont WV has lots of hotels. Directions to the Harry Jones Memorial Range are listed on their web site http://harryjonesbenchrest.angelfire.com/
