2018 deer season young hunters.

Well 2018 deer season has started in south west Virginia. Last weekend was youth day. On Saturday my youngest (10) took a 10 point about 7:15am. He shot his first deer at a very early age and has been hunting ever since. My wife says that I have created monsters!

Last Sunday my oldest (13) took an 8 point with a bow, first time ever bow hunting. Made a perfect shot, lung and heart at less than 10 yards. Ran maybe 45 yards.

I'm a proud dad that's for sure. They both like the outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and now benchrest shooting. Not to mention bow hunting! They are trying to keep an old man young. Maybe now they are getting older, they can be the pack mule for me!

Great job as their dad & perfect memories/hunts with the kids that will stay with them forever.

Congrats to your Boys ,looks like they are off to a great start . Congrats to you also, you should be very proud.

Youngest one score today with his bow (first one with it, 10 year old).

Yougthest tagged out on bucks. Oldest still has a tag for a buck. Muzzle loader comes in Saturday. Got my orders tonight that youngest wanted to get a doe with muzzle loader. Never an end with them (wouldn't have it any other way).

Maybe come rifle season I will get to pull the trigger. Haven't got to in some years now.

They both have said bear is next .

Nice shooting fellas! The one buck with the dark horns sure had been doing some rubbing.

Tried and tried to get this picture to post upright. This is my son's first buck shot this weekend. 200y shot with a 7mm-08. 120 Barnes TTSX. Rested on a tripod while sitting on ground.

Steep country you hunt there CTK...

Heck of a shot

:) Yes, it was very hard to stabilize the deer and kid on a nearly vertical piece of CRP land.

My successful hunter has now made a slideshow, set to music, to chronicle all of the trophy photos of his deer. I however cannot post a picture upright.
