2014 Super Shoot

Some say hes over the hill and lost his edge. I'm talking Tony Boyer unquestionably the best short range BR shooter in the history of the sport just won the 2014 Super Shoot 2 gun besting 220 shooters. Tony has won more Super Shoot matches than anyone.

Forgot one small item. Mr Boyer also won the Hog Roast this year by a wide margin. 2 for 2 so far this year.

Congratulations my friend.

I remember going to Phoenix for the Cactus Shoot about 10 years ago. I told Jay Lynn Gore that we didn't have to worry about Tony as he was getting on in years, well guess what?

And all the guys on this forum with rifles that shoot 0.250 "all day long" would have finished in the Top 5 at the FISS! ;)

This GREAT post deserves to be bumped DAILY !!!!

I live about forty miles from Kelby's. I didn't go to the match this year as a spectator. Where I live it was very windy with changing winds Wed. and Thurs. I think conditions were better Fri & Sat. Could you explain how the aggregate is calculated for us amateurs. Is it 5 five shot groups at 100 and 5 five shot groups at 200. They divide the 200 yd groups by 2 and average all ten targets. It's more impressive when you consider it was with two guns and the groups at 200 yds must gave been very close to 1/2". Great shooters like Gonzales, Speedy and others have been competively shooting for about 30 years and Tony must have about 130 Hall of fame points the next closest is about 45 points if I remember correctly. Tony's wife if also in the HOF.

Yes, that's how it's done for LV, HV, and sporter. Unlimited class is 10 shots per group. Tony won the 2-gun (LV + HV), so in this case his agg represents 20 targets averaging 0.2164.

Tony had groups over 0.500" at 200 in both LV and HV, but also had some well under. And no big groups.

It should also be noted a new world record was fired at 200 yds. with the most beautiful in the CENTER of the "mothball" that measured .097. Most all of us had to have a look when we heard about it. It is safe to say this target will find it's way onto the front cover of one of our shooting magazines. You just find it most difficult to bekieve . One small hole perhaps 1/8th of an inch from being precicely in the center of the target, and at 200, and that gentlemen.....is for five (5) rounds through that hole.

He's also a HOF member from Texas. It was the second match of the morning. Not much wind. As the day grew on, the wind became very difficult, not staying in one place long enough to figure it out, thus larger scores.

Another thing...if your gun did'nt ride the bags the way it should, you were simply out of it....like I was. ::)

Not to cause a fight but your statements are not exactly right JAM711. 1. It was not a world record group since the Super Shoot is not registered with the NBRSA or the IBS. It may be a Super Shoot record. 2. Mr Arnette is from VA. Please keep the facts accurate.

NBRSA LV 200 yrd 5 shot record .075
IBS LV 200 yrd 5 shot record .091
