2000-Yard USA National 2020 Results

I am shooting the OTM now, they are good bullets but a custom would be better. Especially at 2000, its very hard to control vertical at that range. I think Donovan did some math on how much meplat variations played a role. Things that a small at 1k are huge at 2k.

Agreed, I pointed mine.

Say you have 2 same make of bullets, one with a .600-BC, and one with a .601-BC
Both shot at a muzzle velocity of 2900-fps
The vertical POI variance one could expect:
0.0001" at 100-yds
0.004" at 300-yds
0.045" at 600-yds
0.306" at 1000-yds
1.834" at 1500-yds
9.232" at 2000-yds

Again, but with .005-BC variation (.600-BC verses .605-BC):
0.0007" at 100-yds
0.022" at 300-yds
0.224" at 600-yds
1.512" at 1000-yds
9.053" at 1500-yds
45.35" at 2000-yds

Alex is this the same Tom you are always berating about being to sorry to shoot in the winter? Seems to me if he shoot in the winter too maybe nobody else would have a chance.

?
We all shoot in the winter when the weather allows. In Northern MT they get snowed out pretty bad. We dont deal with that in the SW part of the state as much.

This was a comment you made several years ago , maybe I got it wrong but you appeared to be ragging on Tom. From the looks of those targets it doesn't look as if he needs ragged on. NICE SHOOTING

You could lay a ruler across the 4 and pass through all of them, that's about as close to zero elevation as I could ever want. I am thinking the powder didn't get thrown.

Actually, the picture of the whole target shows all 5 shots in a vertical line. The 4 within ~ 4" are scary close to each other. It looks like a 1 1/2 caliber wide group - at 2000 yards! The fifth shot is a bit to one side of the line but not more than a couple inches.

Tom, were you shooting a 6mm?

No, some tried it last year and we just couldn't locate any shots to be able to "walk in". I've been shooting the same 338 lapua imp for 3 seasons now. She's pretty much toast now at 600 rounds.

Tom
