*******200 yrd group******

Over the weekend I borrowed some retumbo from dad's loading room and took it home with me, he said I was steeling it I smiled and said I'm borrowing it dad. anyway I loaded up some rounds using berger's load data for the 210 and off to the hunting club I went, I've been shooting different loads at 200 yrds with h-1000 but this weekend I tried some retumbo powder. My action has never been trued I have a remington 700 sendero in a 300rum with a broughton heavy sporter contour barrel defensive edge recoil lug and brake my best load this far is 85.5 grains of retumbo OAL 3.675 my group at 200yrds was .318 3 shots. :D:D I know this is not as good as some of you guys can shoot but as for me it's the best i've shot so far. so were do I go from here load five then move out further one last thing that blows my mind is the E.S. and S.D. was high I took a dime and covered all three shots. How could this be with such a small group??

255 views and 1 comment:, If this group was not so good then let me know and I will try to shoot a smaller one, better yet tell me what your groups are that way I can compare ;) ? Since know one said anything about the E.S. and S.D. I decided to call Tim and he asked the round count I told him that when I fired the last three shot group it made it 90 total rounds he said my barrel should stabelize around 90 to 100 rounds :)

I think that the reason people haven't responded is that most realize that 3 rounds really isn't indicative of anything. Now if you shot ten three shot groups and they were all under an inch at 200 yards, I'd be mildly impressed. No doubt about it, a .318 group is good, but what will the rifle do over the long haul?

300ulta: Good on ya. You are enjoying shooting with a humungous cartridge and got a result that you are proud of. I am an F Class shooter and think in terms of 10 shot groups at 1000 yards. But I felt the same way you did with your howitzer when I shot a 100 metre 3/4 inch group with my Marlin lever .30/30 carbine. Fun and enjoyment is what it is all about. So go for it good buddy. And tell us about it when you take the next step up.

Jerrschmitt, I was trying to find a load so all I had with me was 3 rounds of the 85.5 retumbo, the rest of the loads were h-1000 now I'm going to try 5 shot groups at 300 and 500 yrds If I still have a nice group then I'll shoot 10 shots at 1000 maybe that will be a little more respected:) I'll try to compare apples with apples in the future.1000yardstare, when I shot that group it gave me the same warm and fuzzy feeling on the inside just like when I shot my first deere.Treeman, LOL I told my dad about the itty bitty group and he knows he aint getting it back:D
