200.20x with Reloader-15 or VV N150?

I have been reading this forum about this bullet and I only really see people using varget or H4895. Does anyone use either RL-15 or VV N150?

I just had an ftr rig built.

Ken...I'm sure someone will come along here shortly and tell you how great those powders are and they get a million fps and shoot in a hole at a mile....mean while all the top tier dudes will be shooting Varget or h4895.....I see it all the time...someone ask's about powder for a 284 for fopen one hundred guys will reply and say H4350 or H4831 and there will be that oooonnnneee guy...RL17...:D:D.....I'm not a FTR shooter nor a top tier dude so my advice costs exactly what ya paid for it.;)

I am with Rope2horns, I just loaded a box of 200.20X for my 308. During research I found good info for the 2 powders Varget and H4895. A few suggested 17. However, Varget was the ticket. Unlike R2H, my info is free!!:D

Varget shoots well in my 308 but so does 4166 re15, but varget is cleaner burning from word on the street, I'm just a plinker though

Varget or h4895 and decrease charge by a grain with h4895 if using a varget load.

Search for info on vihtavuori. I read on here last winter that vihtavuori was sponsoring the US F-tr team and that was what they are "using". Need to ask one of them like Byan Litz to see if you can get the answers you want.

Good luck

Rope2Horns is correct. Unless you have a good bit of RL-15 and/or N150 on hand stick with Varget and H4895 for the 20X thru a 308. RL-15 will give you some really tight groups but very hard to keep in tune with the temp sensitivity. Varget and H4895 not near as difficult with changing temps, but still pay attention to forecasted temps and adjust a 10th or 2 where needed. One other thing, with a 185 freebore take a look at the regular 200 hybrids. That freebore will put them in a good spot for you in your casing. They will shoot bugholes as well. The 20X will be out in the neck a bit but will still work. My 168 freebore has the bearing surface a good ways out from the nk/shoulder junction.

Lastly......Norm had one thing wrong in his post. Don't let his modesty fool you.......He IS a top tier shooter in Open!!

Of the two powders you listed I'd go with N-150. I shot it with 200 hybrids for a couple years and it shot really well. Never had issues with temps with it either. It was about 1/2 gr slower burning than Varget for comparable speed/pressures with the lot I had. Burn charts show it almost in the H4350 burn range but it's closer to Varget from what I saw. It's a very accurate and clean burning powder. I ran out of N-150 and it was very expensive and i had Varget/H4895 on hand so I started using those and never switched back as they work very well also and were a bit cheaper to buy but there ain't nothing wrong with N-150. If you've got it, shoot it. I think you'll like it. Just my .02

I'm working with 200 Jacks from KP Precision, and getting 2650 with N150.

What length freebore and twist are you running and how many grains of N150 you running? Feel free to PM me. I've got Jacks too but I recently did a ladder test shooting the 200hyb and 195tmks using N150 with a 0.208" FB 2609fps 30"barrel with the 200 hybrids. Hit 44gns of N150 without pressure signs however wondering what your max load was when you started seeing pressure signs with the Jacks.
