200-20x Bergers in a 24" .308 barrel

I picked up a couple of boxes of these today hoping they will shoot well out to 1000 yds.

My barrel is a 24" Shilen Select Match 1:10 that shoots several bullets pretty well.

I'm not certain what the freebore is on this barrel; can you determine that from COAL with this bullet?

The COAL with the 200 touching the lands is 3.0345".

Where would you start these bullets (COAL)? Touching? Jumped .010?

My Varget and H4895 inventory is pretty good right now so I would like to use either of those.

QuickLoad says that I should be able to go to 42g with the H4895 @ around 2550 fps and around 43g with the Varget @ around 2530 fps.

Does that look realistic?

Is there a better powder for this combination?

Finally, just bought some Palma Lapua brass. Would this load be a good candidate to test it out?

Thanks!

Tried shooting 200.20x at both jam and jump (COAL 3.050 at touch). At touch, the boat tail/bearing surface junction was right at the case neck/shoulder junction. Never really happy with the groups on target. The barrel was initially chambered for a different bullet. Recently extended the fb based on a COAL of 3.120 COAL, so fb ~ 0.180 then increased the powder charge slightly and now re-testing. 30 inch FTR barrel. You may find your existing fb works although it may be a bit short for the 200.20x - see what the target says - worth testing at the lower end of the powder charge range in Palma srp brass at .009 - .018 jump.

The Sierra 169 SMK may be a better solution for your 24 inch barrel and with no change to your current fb - if interested test with H4895 and 8208. Or the Berger 168 gr hybrid target.

Thanks. Good info. The 168s and 175s shot well in this barrel but I need a little more velocity at 1K to be able to use Shotmarker at our range. I'm thinking that the 185 Juggernauts should carry that speed and I was wanting to see if the 200s could also work.
