20 vartarg from 222

Just wondering how difficult this was and if it would be worth it (if I use Lapua brass) or should I just be happy with the remington 221 fireball brass?

Personally I hate Remington brass! I had some real problems with it handing even moderate pressure in my 20 VT so I make mine out of Winchester 223 brass. This has held up very well! I have some on its 11th firing and still going strong except its time to anneal them again. As for forming the brass its really not hard at all just takes time and a couple of form dies. I use a Redding form die then a trim die then start necking them down. You will need to turn the necks but for myself that wasn’t a big deal since I have a tight neck chamber and have to turn them anyway. If you all ready have a load worked up you will need to back it down a little. the 223 brass is thicker giving you less case capacity. I had to back mine down 3/10 of a grain going from 221 to 223 brass. I made 350 for myself and another 200 for my gunsmith. Another die option that I think would work well for the first form die and be a little cheaper in to use a 300 whisper body or FL die with then stem removed for the first die if you know someone that has one of those.
