I have copper 21 in a 20 vartag i can not get more then 17.7gr of reloader 7 in it with out a lot of heat, same with 4198 i tryed 18gr RL7 and i had a hard time geting the bolt open I see where some people are useing 19.2 gr

Try AA2200. That will typically cure your ailments.
Is that "H" or "IMR" 4198? Most seem to use the H, which meters well. I've had no problem getting entirely too much in VarTarg cases. I don't even use the IMR in the deuce any more because of the metering advantage of the H.
As to other powders - I have only used N-133 and LT-32 and, of course, H-4198. I tend to use 39 and 40 grain bullets, but if you favor the 32, don't bother with the N-133 and LT-32. I defer to Adam on the AA.

I have a cooper model 38 in 20 vt and shoot 39 and 40 gr bullets with H4198. I found that 18 gr was max with rem 7.5's and lc brass. Adam really likes AA2200 but I haven't yet tried it. Keep in mind IMR4198 and H4198 are not the same.
What brass are you using? Lapua brass fits tight on the neck in mine. Need to trim them to keep pressure down.
I am using Lapua and remmington brass. I am going to stop buy copper arms next week i only live about 30 miles from them and see what they say

I can get up to 19.5 [H4198] in mine and that's using REM 221 FB brass. After that its just too full. When putting the powder in the case try swirling it around the funnel, you should be able to get more in that way.
But Adam is right IRT AA2200, I use that in my 221 FB w/Lapua brass
