20 TACT

niceone,

I wasn't sure if you were asking just about bergers or any 20 cal pill. My favorite load is 23.5 grains of H4198 and a 32 grain Hirnady V-Max. I can shoot three of them into one ragged hole. I use IMI brass exclusively. This particular rifle has a Lilja 1:12 twist.

I don't know if you've seen this article, but there are some good Tac-20 loads in the Tac-20 section near the end of the article:

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I have a Lilja 1-11 twist My best, most acc.) load is 24.2- Vih 133 Dakota brass 7.5 Rem. shoots in 2,s I tried about 20 different test loads. Allen

40 Grain Berger BT Varmint Match bullets, lot 1342) seated
to 2.270 OAL using Dakota Lapua brass with CCI 450 primers.
Bullets & cases weight sorted, powder thrown from Harrels
measure.

24.8 grains N-133 5 shot 3 group agg = .309 smallest = .140

25.0 grains N-133 5 shot 3 group agg = .548 smallest = .482

25.2 grains N-133 5 shot 3 group agg = .641 smallest = .458

Same as above except using 24.8 grains of Benchmark, all components but primers
weight matched. I measured the raw group anywhere from
.417 to .419 at 200 yards

Looks like slew & I found a similiar sweet spot for respective rifles with N-133, he at 24.2, mine at 24.8, I have a 1/12 Shilen select and used CCI 450's.

Reduce your starters to be safe!!!!

PS I am working with 10X now also,.... too early to report however.

My favorite load for my boltgun Tac .20 is 32 gr V-max with 25.5 gr Re 10X lit by CCI BR4s. Bergers may shoot better in it but V-maxes are cheaper for PDs. My .20 PPC likes 40 gr Bergers best with VV N-133. I shoot 32 gr. V-maxes over 27 gr. TAC in my Ar-15 Tac .20

32 gr VMAX w/ 25.7 gr. 10X 2.220 oal, rem 7.5
32 gr. vmax w/27.0 gr 8208 2.220 oal rem. 7.5
Both these loads are into the lands, and are max or near max loads in my rifle, which has a lilja 1-11 twist with no freebore originally cut into the chamber. 39 gr. Blitzkings loaded over 25.5 gr. H322 w/ rem. 7.5 primers oal 2.220 ( this is not into the lands) is my go to load. 25.8 gr. was somewhat sticky so I cut back to enhance brass longevity. I would also consider this a top end load, so work up carefully.

I can only say that for the 20 Tac. AR-15 uppers we build, my normal test fire load is 24 gr of N133, a BR-4 primer and a 32 gr Sierra Blitzking shot magazine feed at magazine length. That load in many brand new AR-15 uppers has delivered numerous sub 1/2 min groups at 100 yards just during test firing with no specific load work ups or anything and no barrel break in.
