What are you using for brass in the 20 TAC? Im down to my last 25 cases of lapua dakota arms 20 TAC brass and need to get me some other brass to make into 20 TAC. Ive used Lake City and lapua 223 in the past. Just wondering what others have had sucess with?

thanks

So far, for the two 20 Tactical rifles I've built for myself, I've used virgin WW 223 brass with no issues. Would like to have gotten in on some of the Dakota/Lapua brass when it was available, but I waited too long to build a 20 TAC. I did get 500pcs of the Dakota/Lapua 223 brass from Grafs several years ago, but it all got used in a couple of 223AI rifles.

If you can find any IMI brass it's great stuff. I've used it for many cases based on a 223 including 20-223AI, Tac 20 20 Practical and 223 AI. I prefer it to everything including Lapua.

Just run 223 brass through a 20 Tac FL size die.

thats it eh! I tried it once and it crushed the case.
Just wasn’t sure if there was something I was missing. I heard 20 prac was that simple but was under the understanding 20 tac was harder

what is the procedure for turning 223 to 20 tactical
20 Practical- 23° shoulder
20 Tactical- 30° shoulder
20-223 Improved- 40° shoulder

I have 3 20-223 Improved and one 17-223 Improved. Neck down in 2 steps for the 20s, 5 for the 17. The shoulder is not a concern at all during fire forming nor is the .025 case stretch that occurs when necking down. Anneal after every firing.

I use a bushing die.

I get 5 plus reloads out of an AR and 10 plus out of bolt guns.

Picture is a .223, 20-223 Improved, and a 17-223 Improved. Notice the 40° shoulder vs the 23°.

Works for me. Get some ugly shoulders occasionally, but they blow out during fireforming. Some necks need to be turned depending on reamer.

In my 20 Practical just LC so far, like it a lot. Same as my main 223 brass, it's consistent and pretty much free on the ground in my area.
