20 Pup

No but looks interesting. That’s capacity is probably similar to a 20-222.

Ive been contemplating doing something even smaller by necking down and improving the 22 TCM case. Would have to be a single shot for feeding tho

Anyone have a 20 pup ??
6ppc for size comparison

Gabe,

Kindler had a write-up on the .20 Pup in his Terrific Twenties book. A friend of mine has a .22 Waldog which I believe is about the same thing except in .22 caliber. His is extremely accurate. I've seen him kill PD's over 700 yds with it. It's built on a Panda.

A couple of comments. "You" would have no problems in making the case, but it is a bearcat for an in-experienced reloader. On the Waldog we ruined some cases before figuring out. The other problem I see would be finding .220 Russian brass unless you already have some.

Best of luck on your decision.

From the way I gather things-…

From kindlers book-
From word of mouth-
From NBRSA…
The PPC case reigns @ 100/200yd- regardless of caliber..
the only .378” BF that has won is the 222 & 20VT

Is this correct ???

I asked around a couple of years ago about a 20-220 Russian and variants. I was told that a bit more accuracy could be squeaked out of the PPC/220 case, but capacity of the 204 was so close for little gain and a lot more work.

So suppose it depends on intended use.

I went to 20BR and no regrets.

I would have thought that the 22 TCM would have been a great modern alternative to the old lower pressure 22 cartridges. But it apparently shoots very marginally.

I have a 20 PPC as well and personally see no reason to shorten it up. Would just be a pain in the butt for no good reason in my opinion.
just more efficiency. same velocity with less powder but at the expense of time and custom dies and barrel wear to fireform

Yeah but with so many other smaller options available, such as the 20 VT, it makes more sense to go that route. Some people don’t mind forming brass for wildcats tho. I did it for a while with a 20VT many years ago when it first came on the scene and it wasn’t worth the effort in my opinion. Now there’s people offering ready made 20VT brass. Much easier being able to just buy 20VT brass, load, and shoot. I just don’t like how thick necks get when cases are formed into the body of the case. But to each their own if they want to conduct multiple stages of forming for brass. All the 20 calls are a ton of fun to shoot and deadly accurate

yep .20 Viper is does the same more efficiently but you have to form brass. Needless to say I have both
