20 Practical

I was using a rcbs 223 seater, I ran across a nice rcbs 204r seating die so I use it now. Can't tell the difference on pd/coyote loads in the field. But easier to hit the cbto target with the comp die.

CZ, your 24.9/25.0 8208 load falls right in line with my 20p load testing. I was using 40 gr NBT. Searched thru my stash and found 400 40 gr vmax. Had some prepped brass laying around so I made up 15 for next range run. A few years ago I was snowshoeing, looking for a coyote to pop. My buddy calls me from the truck and said a coyote walked into the shelter belt trees a 1/2 mile to your 10 o'clock. I moved that direction to a fenceline on a small hill with some snow drifts. Sat down behind one where I could see most of the tree line. About 10 minutes of glassing I spot a coyote curled up under a spruce tree. I moved a couple drifts north for a bit less obstructed view. Ranged it at 286 yards(angle compensated). The whole time(it was late afternoon, I'm looking NE) wind from the north decreasing and temps dropping. I texted my buddy, have to shoot from here. Snow crunch and no wind, I can see head rest covered. I'm 50/50 on shot, watch for the coyote if I miss. Got the thumbs up back. I dialed for the shot, got on the bipod, settled in and broke the trigger. Coyote never moved. Phone vibes, it's my buddy. I had a great look thru the spotting scope when the bullet hit, coyote barely moved. Go get and lets go get burgers. Shoe down and coyote has a blood trickle just to its left eye side of the center. Left eye popped out slightly. The 20's sure are fun, been many more coyote since with it. Now it wears a thermal for night duties.

I use a DA bullet feeder with a Lee bullet feeder die with custom internals I machined for 20 caliber....followed by seater die.
What i mean by versatile is going to the range to do seating depth tests, I despise coming home pulling rounds apart.
Like I said its just personal preference.
There times I take 3 guns to the range with all bullets seated at were I wanna start then adjust deeper depending on what I'm seeing.
Theres also times I take vials of powder charges with primers, bullets and sized brass with my inline seater and press

My load development set up...no need for driving and hauling. Press is 20' from shooting/loading bench.

Three 5 shot groups @ 100. 3/4" target stickers. Changing sight-ins and wishing I had gone to 20P long ago. I hold on the left bottom corner.1776086604484.jpeg

Jeez

I gotta load up and drive 10 minutes

Ya...I remember and despise those days.

I quit going to our local range cause there's only two benches. Even if I got there early there often were multiples that would show up and I'd just leave rather than expect them to wait till I was done.

I especially like to do load development in the bewitching hour....that last hour of decent light when the wind calms down.

I've even used a million candle power search light after dusk at my range. All PD load development is done with suppressor.

I drive 10 minutes to a public range I have here I can shoot to 1,000 yards if I want. I shoot alot at 665 with my LR hunting rifles and others so alot of times I have some small cals and bigger.
On my LR rifles all load development is done at 665

Ricco, can you set the Garmin on the shelf and catch each shot? I had my 20p upper laying on my to be cleaned table. I had ordered Bore Smith patches and tapered brush that a patch rides on front of. Accelerator/patch out by jag/patch using a possum hollow AR guide. Took about 10 patch/brush passes and than the patches cleaned up. Flush with Free All, final patch with One shot, ready for summer with the thermal on it.

Yes, the little shelf under the scale/trickler shelf is for the Garmin. The whole setup was temporary for this winter shooting but it worked so well it'll become permanent with a better planning and organization.
