20 practical twist rate

I'm in the planning stages of a 20 practical for prairie dog use. The bullet I want to use is the 39 blitzking. My question is will a 1-8 twist overspin them at around 3700 fps and give me bullet blowups? I can also get a 1-11 but the berger twist rate calculator shows a very marginal stability factor of 1.17 when I plug in the 39 blitzking numbers with a 1-11 twist. I know a lot of folks are shooting the 39 in 1-11 twists, but will the 1-8 be too much?

My 8 1/2tw didn't when it was new but after 3-400 rounds it does. My 5X45AI fire form loads run 3925 fps. I haven't tried the V-Max yet but understand they are tougher.

I have a 10 in an AR and a 700 in 11. Both shoot the 39 BKs and 40 Vmaxs accurately.

You must be talking about my 20 Pract. Same thing, WOA 10T AR and Krieger 11T on my 700. Just to change things up I have a Sako L461 getting a 12T right now. I shoot more 32 gr, mostly ZMAX.

Not to steal the thread, but how do you like your WOA 20 practical? 20 or 24"? Did you buy upper or build? How does it shoot?? A 24" keeps calling to me!

I love it. I haven't had a chance to work up it's best load (too busy just trying to get loads made up for PD's this year). And I was looking for a load I could use in both rifles. Target below is 100 meters.

I just bought the 24" barrel from WOA since I like to pick my components to assemble the upper (and lap the receiver, etc.).

Try 24.0 of N133, BR4s, 32 vmax, .010 off the lands in good, well prepped brass. Works well in the ten twist AR.

I had trouble with penetration on coyote with the 32 gr. Sierra bullets, so I called them and they told me their bullet was a lite varmint bullet and the jacket was to thin for coyote. I since found out that the Sierra jackets are .009 thick and the Hornady jackets are .013 thick. I have had 5 204 factory guns and all but one liked the 32 gr Sierra bullets best and the 39 gr. Sierra`s next. The odd one preferred the 32 Horn. with the 32 gr Sierra`s next.
