20 Practical. LT32

My CBI 20P barrel got here from Jim at Northland the other day. I've got a pile of 32gr vmax to load.
I have 16 lbs of LT32 I use in my 6ppc and 6br

I was thinking it should work well with the 20 P. Does anyone have any experience with this combo?

Plus 1 on VV N133. It is really accurate in my 20Prac. Clean burning too! Another good powder is Reloader 10X, but it is dirtier.

Went to the range with a load of 25.5gr H322 with 35gr Berger mainly velocity testing this load was running 3950fps.

Plan to try the LT32 next week for velocity comparison

I haven't finished my testing with lt32 but here is some chrono data from my test. not quite at max yet and a node was starting at 26.1 so i am going to retest with 26.3 through 26.7 to see what happens.

Wow
LT can deliver the velocity. One of the things I wondered about.
I have had two 20P sold the first built another. They both grouped better in the 3900 fps node. You might try a lower node to see what happens
Thanks for sharing your information with us
Tim

That 40gr vmax load at 24.8 is awesome
Can't ask for more than that

if you look closely that is a 308 stray hole the group for 24.8 is a little lower, the best nodes were 24.5 and 25.1 but it is over max or right at max.

but yes one large ragged hole would be nice ;D

I bought a .257 Wby on a Win 70 (yes Model 70 of all things) from a gent who will take anything from a 742 and work with it till it will shoot whatever its best will be.

This one, Chambered with no free bore, was just an avg shooter he said until he started pushing the limits and the groups just sucked in. 3800fps with 100 grainers and basically one ragged hole. He was a former BR competitor for years so knew his way around. That is one dandy varmint getter. Sight in around 200 and hold on fur out past 400. It is FLAT.

If your powder ain't sensitive and you're not getting web expansion, you may consider staying with it..........providing it is safe - even though on the hot side. Maybe take one case and fire it until you get some signs that you don't want and see how long it will last then make your decision from there? Free advice is usually worth about half of what you pay for it............. ;)

So far every zero freebore 20 Prac barrel I've seen (5 in all) likes about .015"-.020" jump or a light/almost touch. Leade wear is light.
