20 mm Load Data

Would anyone happen to have load data for the 20 mm? I have been told I can use H870 and AA8700 load data for WC872 but haven't verified this.

Thanks!

20 MM x?

Are you referring to a 20 caliber? Or have you built a killer of tanks and aircraft ;D

It ain't no 20-218 with those powders! I Have a friend out in WA that uses H5010 I believe. No idea the charge or bullet but I know he uses ALOT of powder

You are correct JRS in that they are considered a destructive device. There are certain procedures required for you to own one of these beasts.

Where do you find barrels and receivers for that behemoth, Dave?

Yes you can use H870, it was used in the 20 mm you have (known as the 50 series 20 mm ammo). I have actually loaded those for testing purpose. I liked WCC 870 better than WCC 872. I do not remember the charge weights but the case was not full to the neck. I would go low on the 872 data you have but I found 872 to be "spikie" on the lots I used. The powder lots for mil ammo varied a lot in burn rate. Ammo is loaded to velocity and pressure to meet specs.

The latest QL has several 20mm cases listed,
at 950+grs of powder for the case, :o
you are going to need a 55 gal drum of powder,
to have any fun, for a short shooting session. ;D

I've shot hundreds of thousands of rounds of 20mm. My favorite was High Explosive Incendiary (HEI) mixed with Armor Piercing Incendiary (API) on a 50/50 basis with one in ten being a tracer round.

I won't even go there Mozella. :D

Holy crap :o only $13,000.00 for a single shot with suppressor ;D

And $10.00 per piece for practice ammo :'( I think i'll stick to my longbows ;) Man, that's a big gun!

JRS, don't you just get the urge to reach out and touch something far away every now and then? :D

I have never hand loaded for the 20mm but I have LOADED F-105's with thousands of rds of 20mm to feed their Vulcan cannon. And H-870 IS correct.

I had a buddy who shot a few Weatherby mags and could use H-870. I'd stick a rd of blue tip practice ammo (like the one shown) into one of the holes on our ammo carts and by forcing the projectile back and forth , one could pull the slug out of the case. IIRC eight or nine rds would FILL a 1# powder can to the brim, with more than a pound of H-870.

Wish I'd saved more than the single projectile I have. A blue tip practice rd.
