20 Caliber and repeaters

Looking to put together a 20 cal rig. Wondering if anyone has had luck loading a 20 BRA or 20 Dasher out of a magazine with a magazine adapter like the one primal rights for aics mags.

Looking to shoot the 55 grain bullets

My thoughts, not experience , would be to make it easier on yourself and pick out a 20cal. who’s parent case does feed easily through your action. The 6BR family takes modifications to get it to function whereas the 20-250 ,which would be in the same power range ,is easy to get to feed . Unless there is a solid reason why you want to use the more difficult one to get to feed , think about an alternative.

If you want a repeater on stock 700 metal the 20-250 probably is your friend. Now the BR case has proven itself to be very accurate in BRAI and Dasher, not saying the 20-250 isnt. Ive never shot a Dasher version or a 20-250 but I do have a 20BRAI that will shoot better than me with 55's and I know Gabe22Br shoots on in 600 yard competition and some others on here have to I believe.
If your set on a BR case as a repeater Mike Bryant has a video on how to do it or I think you can buy center feed detach mags to do it. Ive also wondered if a milled down wyatts center feed wsm- saum follower would work.
I'm interested in if you go BR case and what metal you end up with for repeater, let us know how it turns out and good luck.
Somebody smarter than me on here probably can figure it out.

I run a 20 BR on a Borden Super Short 6 action, specifically built for the BR case. You can get magazines from them, or likely use the new MDT magazines for BR. Mine feeds excellent, as good as any other cartridge / rifle I’ve had. Plus the Borden action is super slick. Highly recommended if you’re going BR / BRA.

We shoot 6 dashers and 6br's out of magazines you just have to get a MDT one that is made for the BR cases

After lots of trial and error I am using an AW Mag with HDR 6br kit with feed lip and spring tension modification from a Curtis Vector. This is in a 20BRA shooting 55gr Bergers.

I also have a 20BRA on a Lone Peak Fusion. Still haven't worked out all the kinks. I have primal rights kits, AW mags with HRD kit, and have a couple of, MDT MAGS to play with.

What bullet at what speed for what purpose? I'd let that dictate the case and I'd try to avoid the BR case family if flawless feeding was the priority.

I think three of the easiest 20 cals for slinging the heavy for caliber Berger 55's and running as a slick feeding repeater would be the obvious and already mentioned 20-250 but two others would be a 20 Creedmoor and 20x47 Lapua.

Aren’t those cases way overbore

What about a 20 GT? Anyone tried one?

They're all overbore but that doesn't mean you have to run them to redline max. I have a 20-250 built on a SA Rem 700 that wears a 26in Krieger. I shoot the Berger 55's with RL16 at 3650, which is a fairly moderate load, and they group extremely well. Could I steam it up and running it harder and get more speed out of it, absolutely, but it shoots really well with the load I'm using and I don't think coyotes or anything else I shoot with it will care if those 55's are cruising along at 3650 or 3850+. :)

A 22 Creedmoor is equivalent to a 22-250AI which is only slightly bigger than a standard 22-250 and the 20x47 Lapua would be right around the same as a 20-250.

I may be biased, but my 20-222 works fine in the 222 ADL magazine, AND, the 222 case is probably the perfect size capacity to work with the 20 cal without getting all crazy for pressure, velocity, barrel wear, -- heck everything. Did I mention that I may be biased?? jd

At one time Nosler had plans to come out with a "20 Nosler" which was similar to their 22 Nosler but with a slightly longer main body giving is a bit more case capacity than their 22 Nosler. It had a rebated small bolt face rim so it would work with any 223 size action, including AR15's. If Nosler would ever actually come out with it as designed per their initial data it could very nicely fill the gap between the 204 Ruger or 20 Practical and the 20-250 size stuff, and, should feed well without any modifications to most 223 size actions.

Like jds holler, I'm a big 20-222 fan and love shooting the 40's in mine but for the 55 Berger's, I leave that work up to the 20-250.

They have reloading data all ready to go. https://www.nosler.com/20-nosler
