20 Cal Cleaning Patches

Pro shot and the triangle style work great. In the 22 cal size. Buy direct (google brand) or find on Amazon.

1” sq. Cut my own!! Cheaper that way, plus I can get what I like.
Ever priced a yd. of white flannel? Amazing how many 1” patches it’ll yield.

Also cut my Dasher patches.

I use nothing but genuine urine tanned mole skins. Back skin for the initial scrub, and belly for final wipe. Commercial pads of whatever crude fabric they are manufactured from are simply too harsh for my hand lapped match grade barrel. jd

I use 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 square patches on a 17 caliber jag for my 20 caliber barrels.

I can't get a good fit with a smaller patch with a 20 caliber jag.

I make my own patches for my 20 VT, 22’s, 40 cal., etc.

Go to the fabric store and buy a yard of white flannel/cotton material. For the 20 VT I cut the fabric in long strips about 5/8” to ¾” wide. Then cut those strips to the same length that they are wide and you end up with pieces about ¾” square.

When you first cut the material in strips, double the material and then when you are cutting the small patches, you will be cutting 2 patches at a time. I tried cutting 3 and 4 patches at a time, but that is getting too thick to cut accurately.

Also use flannel and rolling cutter.

FYI I bring a good caliper or mic to measure thickness.

Learned that the hard way. Cut up several yards of heavy flannel and it was to hard to push through. Ended up using for next caliber bigger to use them up.

So you didn't even try one patch before cutting them all up??? LOL! Cant make that stuff up right there.
Dont think I'll ever find myself using a "mic" on any fabric either ;)

Also... I got in trouble for using my wifes cutter.:( It dulled the blade cutting 5 or 6 at a time. She got a pack of blades in her stocking from Santa. I may have to confiscate one for patch making.:D
