20 br 26" barrel vs 30

Okay something for you ballistic and calculation masterminds to thing about.I I have a 26" barrel in a 20 br shooting the 55 grain Berger at 3690 fps with good accuracy. I'm thinking about trying another experiment and building another 20 br and I'm wondering if there would be much increase in velocity if I would go up to a 30" barrel and if there was any how much should I expect.

Most cartridges pick up about 20 to 30 feet per inch. The biggest advantage to a 30 over the 26 is the fact that you can cut off and rechamber without losing much velocity. Matt

Kinda curious on this myself, I have a 26" 20br now in heavy varmint taper and it's probably half way through it's life, thinking of going with a 30" 1.25 straight taper on the next one but I'm wondering if I'm going to venture into the territory of having too heavy of a rifle for the cartridge and the rifle not recoiling properly.
